Comments (17)Did I say something that offended you Todd? Yes, I do explain to my clients and potential clients the pros and cons of various window materials and products including the performance ratings. If someone expresses that they are looking for something that is supremely air tight, I most certainly do give additional feedback on that. I would much rather set those expectations upfront than have customer complaints after the fact because their expectations were not met. Hopefully that answers your question....See MoreWindows for New Construction in Arkansas. Pella, Jeld-Wen or Andersen
Comments (13)When we replaced all of the windows in our 100 year old house, we were newbies and went with Pella Architecture series because they had such a great reputation in our area (Philadelphia). I really don't like them. Many of the panes have some gray goopy putty like material leaking from them and they are very difficult to open/close. We have Marvins in our mudroom addition and Anderson 400 series at the beach and they are much better....See MoreMarvin Integrity and Pella for new build
Comments (44)Here's my problem with Pella: I am an architect, and my office specializes in higher-end residential work, so we do specify a lot of windows. In my area, Pella's marketing is aggressive to the point of being obnoxious, and I can't help but wonder "if the product compares well to Marvin or Integrity, why not just let that speak for itself?" It's nearly impossible to get an apples-to-apples comparison of price between any brands, but another thing I've noticed is that Pella's number will look lower--at first. But you have to be extremely scrupulous to make sure they are pricing what you want. By the time you've discovered that Pella omitted something that any other vendor would consider standard (say, screens for your windows,) the price has crept back up to be just as much as the better window. I often feel pressured to consider Pella, probably because there are Pella salespeople literally chasing after me, my builders and even my clients. In my experience, none of the Pella sales people has a fraction of the knowledge that other window dealers have (Marvin/Andersen/Jeld-Wen.) The company appears to spend a ton of money wooing architects, designers, and builders, and that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. For something as important as windows, I wouldn't take the risk. Also: your builder should absolutely weigh in. Good luck to you....See Morenew construction windows - Pella Lifestyle vs Plygem Mira
Comments (5)Transitional inside, with the front elevation being a little more on the traditional side. As far as type, large picture windows in the front elevation, elsewhere some casement, some double hungs, a couple of bi-parting quad panel doors for loving g room and master bedroom (although I'm also looking for a pocket multi slider downstairs)....See MoreHou 2009
