Well, that bites!

Hope it turns out to be a minor problem and is easily fixable. Small consolation, but at least it's not the brutal heat of August yet. Hang in there, raven!

I used to freeze a bucket of water and put it in front of the fan and as the water melted it would blow cooler air. Best of luck for a nice cheap fix.

You didn't by any change buy a home warranty when you bought that house did you? That would cover the a/c.

Ours went out last year and it was a minor fix, just some small part had to be replaced. Hopefully you will be lucky and it won't be a big cost!

I'll bet it's the start capacitor. That's $150 tops....fingers crossed.....(could be anything)...just hoping the best for ya...

The AC guy is here now. He also said probably a capacitor. That's what we are hoping.

It was very nice last night. We opened the giant bedroom window and put all the fans in the bedroom. It got a little chilly during the night. Mia was looking for her blanket!

The AC guy, who is a very good friend and former neighbor, said that the system up in the attic looks very good. Big HEPA filter with a UV bacteria killing light and an overflow alarm with system cut off in case of a water leak or buildup. He said it was nicer than our old one lol. From what we have seen so far apparently this house was well maintained. It was funny he knew exactly the house we moved in to. His best friend as a kid lived here and he was over here all the time. He knows lots about the people and the house. Pretty cool.

How fortunate to get this info. Big repairs after just moving are not in the budget usually!

Oh yeah! It was a switch and it was under $200. Whew. I was dreading hearing we needed a new one. He is such a great guy and friend and responds immediately when we call him. His mom is one of my friends and in the garden club. We are cool again!

I'm sure glad the AC man is a friend of yours and knows your house so well. I'm happy that it was an easy fix and not real costly.

Good news!

Great news! Something similar happened to me last week when the temp went into the high 80's. I've had the 2nd flr system going for weeks (zoned system, like to sleep in a cold room), but had not yet turned on the system for the 1st floor. Turned it on Thurs AM - realized by afternoon that it was a LOT warmer than the thermostat was set for. Called and they got out her on Friday afternoon. It's my older system and I was thinking "new compressor" and knew that was BIG BUCKS. Good luck! A wire outside between the compressor and the house had lost its insulation and so the compressor was getting no power. Fixed wire - works fine. No idea of cost but probably about $200 as my HVAC company has more add-on costs that one can imagine (fuel surcharge, van surcharge). I use them as they always have a truck in my neighborhood and can get to me quickly.

Linda I wish I could say yes all the pain and itching is gone, but unfortunately that's not the case. It's a little more hit and miss though. But occasionally it comes on strong and I have to get up and move around some or take a shower and let the hot water pound the area. I am going for another laser treatment this week, that definitely helps.

Raven, I was sooooo hoping that you were completely cured. How often can you have these laser treatments? Does your doctor have any idea how long that pain and itchiness will continue? I feel so bad for you having to contend with this.
