Hi there, We haven't done it yet, but I still want to. I actually found a neighborhood near here (tipped off by my neighbor who's been thinking of doing this for ten years but has yet to pull the trigger) where there are tons and tons of houses like ours, most painted a single color. They look great. And it's in a very fancy area, which I think explains the greater prevalence of doing this than my specific neighborhood, which is nice but not ritzy (since painting the brick adds a lot of $$). I took pictures of some of these houses, which I'm happy to post. I think it's important though to hire a really really good painter, and to shell out the extra $ for good paint. I've seen some crappy jobs and it's not worth it.

I'm in agreement with you that for your situation something of low contrast would be best. You could have the shutters more or less match the house color (or even go ligher, say a cream color) or a soft green with yellow tones to it. I would let the landscaping provide the color (and I'm so hoping you're not doing grass in your tropical environment) and let it be the lush counterpoint to your cool-looking light colored house. I think it would be beautiful.

THANK YOU ALL! A few notes: **Our roof is now dark gray--we had it done after this picture was taken. I'll take another pic with the new roof if it ever stops raining...... **As much as I'd love to change out the garage doors--our budget is maxed out with new hardwood floors, roof and exterior paint job! **I've been playing with SW Color Snap on their website--I must be totally inept--cant seem to get it to work worth a darn! I'd like to see what dark trim around the windows, facia and garage door trim looks like. **A big thank you to celery girl and kathy. The Gauntlet Gray picture looks much lighter than I thought. Celery girl--can you change the trim from white to a dark gray? I've tried about 100 times--but can't seem to get it . **I have a sample quart of the Gauntlet Gray--We plan on painting a test area when the rain stops. I'll definitely look at Hardware Gray, too. **I'm pretty sure I don't want white trim, and will keep the garage doors the same color as the body of the house. Thank you all again!
