Rug size under queen bed? Show your 5x7 and 6x9 rugs in small rooms
Comments (8)Tried to edit my original post but kept getting errors. The problem with all the "DO" rules is my room is irregular in that where the bed is is only 9'6" wide therefore the rule of the big rug is out the window - which my husband says was created and pushed by the rug industry to make you buy the more expensive rug LOL. So I'm stuck with.... 8x10 - if I turn the rug 'long ways' and fit all the way up to the headboard would leave about 9" of bare floor on the sides, stick out 3' past the foot of the bed (which is fine) and cause uneven nightstands likely to adjust, could stick felt pads under the 2 legs. 6.5x9 - would leave only 3" bare floor each side basically filling that space, leaving the nightstands free. 5x7.5 - would leave ~15" sticking out, enough to put your feet on but hardly enought to see the rug I love. May have to find another location for this rug and stick w the runners. We have limited time there as it's a vacation property we're trying to fix up to rent and wanted to have things pre-purchased. Wayfair has some fast shipping so may have to just wait and map it out w the tape....See MoreKitchen Island Pics Please! 4x4ft or 4x5ft, Seating on 2 Sides
Comments (11)How many people are you planning to seat at this island? I'm asking b/c you need these minimums for island seating: 24" per person linear space Two people cannot share a corner 15" overhang of clear leg/knee space A 5'x5' island will not comfortably seat four. Expand it by a minimum of 3" (6" would be better) to get the minimum size for an island that seats four: 63" x 48" (Yes, even 3" will make a difference. Keep in mind that the 24" per seat is the minimum, not the ideal. Ideal is closer to 30" per seat.) Both island sizes (4'x4' & 4'x5') with seating on two adjacent sides will only accommodate three people: Note: The minimums are for short to average height/size people. If you and/or your family are tall, I recommend a deeper overhang with 30" per seat (but 24" per seat will probably suffice)...taller people generally take up more space overall....See MoreDoes anyone know where I can get these type of 4x4 bathroom tiles?
Comments (15)if they are vintage good luck! but here are some suggestions (ive been there for my three vintage bathrooms): Have you been able to pop one off and look at the back and get really lucky to see the manufacturer on the back? You may have to soak it in hot water awhile to get the mortar etc off. then look up the manufacturer on ebay. check out https://matchmytile.com/ and hope you get lucky. go to retrorenovation.com and look up vintage tile and she has many posts about finding vintage tile, including neighbors, is a stash in the basement in a box on a shelf, borrow from behind the toilet, etc....See MoreI need a DINING ROOM Rug 9 x 12
Comments (39)The room is coming along very well. Definitely take your time to do it right. . Are there any rug stores in your area? Especially one that might be independently owned. Often, they have a back room of rug remnants that you can purchase and they will size it and bind it for you. There is one in my area that does binding for $2/linear foot. And you don't even have to have purchased the remnant from them. You may be able to find a sisal or textured piece that fits your need as a remnant and have it cut to size. Is there a Habitat ReStore in your area? In my area, new carpet remnants are always being donated by stores. I got a new 15x15 textured remnant for $25 (had to wait and wait for the markdowns), had it cut and bound at a local rug store for $88. Sweet! Coincidentally, the rug store had donated it to Habitat when they cleared out their warehouse when the building was sold. The carpet style was still in stock and was $12/sq ft .if I had bought it from them directly. I love a bargain!!!! When you want a bargain you do have to be willing to wait for what you want and/or be flexible to know that maybe what your heart is set on is not the best thing. Stay open to possibilities. Sisal is sold by the sq. ft at rug stores. You could have an area rug made. It might get pricey but wait for a sale or maybe find a remnant. Here's a sisal wool I splurged on at the same rug store after my bargain rug. Lots of colorways available for sisal if you go that route. Also, delivery fees have gone crazy where I am so look for ways to save on that if you go local. The two rugs were far too large for my SUV so a friend and I rented a large van for $55 vs. the $175 delivery fee and brought it home ourselves....See MoreRelated Professionals
