A surprise in my mailbox!

A week ago I gave my sewing machine and many "extras" to a 13-year-old great niece. I'd heard that she was interested in sewing so thought she might enjoy a good machine.

Her mother brought her to my apartment; we had lunch, and they took the things I had offered.

Last night I found a lovely thank-you note in my mailbox. It was written in cursive-a rarity among teenagers today. As is a thank you note!!

Believe me- it made this old-fashioned lady's day!!!

As a completely off topic question, am I the only one who hears Jim Nabors (as Gomer Pyle) reading the subject line every time it comes to the top?

I know it's Harlequin, Josh, I had just misplaced it, happens at my age. LOL Does anyone know if it has relations to Aphrodite? Their color is somewhat similar and I was just curious if they have some shared parentage? Here's my Aphrodite, another lost soul! lol From Amaryllis I have not seen this frilly girly favorite since before my surgeries. It could alas no longer be in my harem. They have shared freckling and picotee but My Aphrodite is rounder in the petals and seems to have more layers.

Hey, Karen, I wonder if I could do the same thing with my Gaillardia (Indian Blanket flower) that I grew that came out pinks to cream instead of yellows to red. It comes back every year, so it must be a true color. Who could I send it to? This Pam chick at SSN? That would be too cool. Thanks you guys for all the nice comments. It is a lovely catalog, for sure. And yes! I did spot Karen's salvia! Brovo for you, Karen! I am a salvia freak too. Going to keep adding those to my collection. They are one kind of plant that really do well here on my sandstone hill in dried-up (and burning up) old Okie, so am expanding my salvia collection. The coleus are gorgeous too. I grow them in large pots and tubs down by my koi pond. Luscious foliage and all these new colors! Wow! All the SSN plants are just BEAUTIMOUS! I don't have enough money to buy all the ones I found that I want!!! (waaaah) I'm a kid in the candy store with only a nickle in my pocket to spend! Ain't that a revoltin' development? - lol ~Annie

Ann, I got my box today, and all I can say is WOW & THANK YOU!!! Veggies, flowers, vines, trees, hostas, herbs, shrubs, and I'm still looking through it all to figure out what I received. I'm going to do you a favor and not tell Thompson & Morgan about all these seeds, they'd accuse you of stealing a customer! I don't know if I'm going to need to order seeds for next year now, since you sent all of these! WOW.

How very nice. Good for her, and good for her parents for apparently teaching her such good manners.

I, too, am thankful that she was so thoughtful.

And a bit sad that it seems so unusual.

I have only two granddaughters who are grateful for everything I do and give them. It does warm my heart, I can only remember one small item my grand mother gave me years ago and it is still greatly treasured.
