Stunning colors! Seminole Wind still sticks out for me, but all of them are gorgeous. I hear you about the rain, we had it almost all weekend and it's spotty today. The grass has to be mowed every 4/5 days. Everything sure looks lush, so I can't complain. I think it's going to start drying up now.

Hi Ron, Yes agree in respect of pellies (pelargoniums). Peat based soils are ok for fuchsias but one must add something to 'open-up' the soil for better drainage and less compactness, such as perlite, vermiculite, sand, horticultural grit etc. It's all a matter of personal choice and what grows best for you. Personally I add perlite and horticultural grit. A lot of the commercial growers use pure peat for the simple reason it is very light in weight and keeps their costs down in respect of transportation and the poor old inexperienced gardner ends up with a container that is very 'soggy' or quite the opposite, a container full of a 'bone-dry' mix that is nigh impossible for water to penetrate - Kath:)

Mike, If you're going to dig it up and re-pot it, maybe you should think about using a very large terra cotta tub with lots of soil that would keep the roots cool, and keep it outside in the shade. I would think that in your garage it could get pretty hot and with no air movement well, maybe outside shade would be better. I know where I live in 6b if the temps go up to the high 80's in the sun, they all wilt but revive soon after they are out of the sun. Couldn't imaging what they would do if the temps reached 100, but I might never know because I myself would surely melt! Just a thought........Donna

What an incredibly helpful thread! It has saved me from returning to panic mode. About a week ago I saw the spray-painted outline of the planned island for our new kitchen and it was 10 inches less in width than I had been told. (I had been told 46" wide and it was drawn as 36".) After seeing all of the posts and photos, I will be very content with 9' X 42"(we were able to add 6" back in without losing too much aisle space) . Thank you to all posters!
