Help me choose a chandy for my "pedestal" dining room.
Comments (28)Oh, nosoccermom! You posted the kind of thing I was thinking of when I first saw her photo. I didn't look further on Overstock (I'm already killing time I should be spending on something else), but the wavy would be great -- a little softer. It's a marriage of the large rectangles behind and the curves of the furniture. It is unexpected, but still adds formality. I like either of the rectangles. They are simple, yet dramatic and unique enough for your pedestal DR. OK, Lauren -- you can't say we aren't giving you ideas! LOL ETA: I showed the disc chandelier that is in my bedroom on your other thread. Just to balance your neighbor's view -- that one is in a traditional home with traditional dark furniture and I love it. Comments (3)I want to tell you 1 key tip for lighting, don't put the cart before the horse. You MUST put your furniture in the space, right now you can't "see" the space, and that is what is making it so hard. once things are in the space, and the rooms shrink, you will have a much better idea of not only what will look pretty but will actually function for you. also, things like the size of the table are very important when scaling. Lastly matching or not, doesn't matter, farmhouse is not about matchy matchy, its eclectic. if you stay within that wheelhouse they will coordinate by default....See MoreNeed Help Choosing Dining Room Chandelier
Comments (37)I am going to paint the walls in both rooms Wind’s Breath colour. You’re correct, I bought the painting and rugs at Homesense to match, thinking they were more contemporary. I am an amateur trying to learn. This is why I appreciate everyone’s suggestions so much! I tried to find slip covers for my sofa and loveseat but failed. They were all stretchy spandex-polyester and looked cheap. Any suggestions on where I can buy slipcovers that look like upholstered furniture in Canada? I was originally looking for off-white slip covers, although I wonder if this will look washed out with Wind’s Breath colour on the walls. Any suggestions on coffee tables?...See MoreNeed help choosing a dining room rug
Comments (5)I know you want a rug (and you can find washable, affordable ones from Nuloom), but, IMO, the space is too small to add a correctly size rug. You need a rug about 3' wider, all around, to allow chairs to sit on the rug and also to stay on the rug when pulled back. Even if you removed the hutch, the rug would be coming into the next room (hall?). Can the hutch go to another wall which is close by? If so, I would move it, take down the two art prints, wallpaper above the chair rail and purchase another chandelier 1/2 the size of the table, hung about 33" off table top. If you add wallpaper, it will give pattern to the space that can't have a rug....See MoreAmy Rothe
