Blooms, blooms, blooms... Part 2
Comments (16)Thanks Wendy, April, Carla, Judy, Ronda, Sue and Brandy! Kate, thank you! How right you are. Now it's just a waiting game til they call him in! Leslie, VESPER does fade a bit to a lighter apricot color. But I like it. But, my very favorite rose is BUTTERSCOTCH CL. Jean, a lot of my roses are all lying over too... not from a storm, but the sprinkler risers I added last yr! The water knocks them all over. I gotta stake a lot of the taller ones. Iris gal, SPECIAL OCCASION has become one of my favorite apricots. It blooms better than most. Maurie, welcome to Garden Web! And watch out! Roses are really addicting, as are these Forums! Bgrose, there are a few roses I don't have that I'd love to get. SILVER WEDDING, FREDDY MERCURY, TINA TURNER, MICHEL SERRAULT, SIMSALABIM and the lavender/green florist rose HALLOWEEN are a few I can think of right off the top of my head! Decobug, I'm not sure what this "VARIETY CLUB" might really be. The one pic I found of it shows yellow w/red edges....See MoreMore blooms to share and 1st time blooms on new roses :)
Comments (19)Thanks everyone, I've been working really hard on the garden this year and it's nice to see the roses so happy. The rain has been an issue and the blackspot is creeping in. I hppe I can keep it under control. Carol and Sharlene you are totally right, I have Rock & Roll not Rock n Roll. So confusing to me, all of these & or 'n' roses lol. My St. Patrick came from a local nursery and when I saw it he was covered in huge green buds. I had to take him home and he has become one of my favorite impulse buy roses. I do get to the ground die back in winter but so far he keeps coming back. Sara-Ann yeah I don't see pink freedom very often but I also enjoy the blooms very much. Believe it or not that was a scrawny body bag rose from 2012! Most of my roses have bloomed atleast once this year but I am still waiting on probably 10 or so new ones planted this year for their first blooms. I'd say 75% have been in the ground since 2012 or 2013. Thanks for the feedback and conpliments! I love to share my roses with you all and hear your input! Comments (10)Today was my first "real" daylily bloom from Little Rosy cloud. I only saw scapes on it last week, funny how it usually isn't the ones that scape first that bloom. This is the very earliest I have ever seen this one bloom, I think last year it was May 25. I'm sad to see the last photo of Fernstone, will it not rebloom? Marseilles Watercolor & Purple Mask are really pretty, I like the patterned ones like that. And Indigo Edge is so crisp looking. I had to look really hard to see what was holding New Dawn up, that is one impressive rose....See MoreIt's FINALLY happening - BLOOMS, BLOOMS, BLOOMS
Comments (15)Thanks so much for the kind words. summersrhythm - I goofed and miss typed her name and now Houzz will not let me edit my post - she's not Pretty Miss, she's "English Miss", as my best guess. I found her unmarked, as the only iteration of this rose I ever found at a big box store, and was mesmerized with her blooms, that at some point in their growth form (that I didn't capture in that pic) look like camellia blooms. She's own root, and I am so smitten with her. She's always been pretty small as are her blooms, but at about 5 years old she just keeps sprawling a little more each year, and giving me more blooms each year. "'English Miss' is a floribunda rose bred by Roger Pawsey of Cants of Colchester, England, and introduced in 1977.[1][2] It was named in honor of the raiser's three-year-old daughter Sally-Anne.[3]"...See Morerosiewells7b
