Purple Muhly grass not coming back after pruning?

Hi guys.I pruned my purple muhly grass the end of February and its still hasnt has any new green shoots come up. It looks the same way it did when I cut it back :(

I transplanted it here 2 yrs ago. It was thriving.Dont understand what went wrong

Shari -- I cut back my Muhly grass, but don't think it's necessary. Mine still had a lot of green stalks, but enough brown ones that I went ahead and trimmed it. Did the same last year. Although it takes a little while to fill out again, it seems to make for a neater appearance in the longrun. Linda - The only grass I have successfully grown (intentionally) from seed is Blue Fescue (and of course my lawn). Blue Fescue is extremely easy to grow from seed, and I've got clumps all over my yard to attest to that. Some of my Miscanthus grasses reseed by themselves, and my River Oats (Chasmanthium latifolium) reseeds so heavily that it is a nuisance. I tried growing some Prairie Dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepsis) that I got in a trade, but it never germinated. Most grasses grow very well from divisions, so that's how I usually increase my stock.

Instead of running around from place to place looking for stuff, and either not finding it, or not wanting to pay the high prices, I think I'll just go to Tom's Creek once in a while. Their prices are extremely reasonable, and they have so many things I was just in awe of the selection. I like that you can drive your vehicle around to the various areas and park close to the stuff you're looking at, load it up, and then drive to the front office for them to ring you up when you're all ready.

I'm in Nashville and ours has been down below zero and come back . We have big sweeps in front of the best Panicum v. 'Northwind'. STUNNING, especially here in two weeks . I see plants all the time listed as 7b that come back here reliably . Zonal denial . Muhlenbergia dumosa rocks , unfortunately have yet to have this overwinter , will try again .Muhlys seem to like it hot,dry, and sunny . Try Mu. cap. 'White Cloud' .

The pot will be bigger than the container you are using to store it in the basement. It's 12 in. across and 14" deep. That's where the one gal. starter without it's pot will be placed. Then a same size pot with 1 inch of gravel in the bottom will receive the first pot. That will suspend the FPG slighty above the other pot and it all goes in the ground. If the grass isn't growing as fast as I think it should I'll pull both pots amd use the existing hole to directly plant the PFG and back fill. It's a trial. Nothing to lose really. It will survive either way. Will be almost 8 mths before we can compare pics. The pic with the rocks looked great. I love stealing great ideas for my own planting. Well for us, last year was unusually severe and mine are all dead too. My Muhlenbergia reverchonii continued to thrive in pots even, without dieback. I think I will have to give up on capillaris as permanent grass.

No green shoots yet.I poured some of that alaska fish fertlizer on it hoping that will spring it back to life, still nothing yet :(

I've given up on M. capillaris as well. All new plantings died after last winter and a 4-5 year old plant has only a very few green shoots.

Well, after uncertainty (and laziness if I have to be honest), I finally planted out the reverchonii into the ground. I planted it high, because of the overwhelmingly generous watering Nature tends to give us (ie wet) and pray it can accomodate and thrive.

It's not as good as capilaris, but if it lives and thrives, it's more sustainable.
