Comments (8)Hey, Greg! You've gotten some good advice already. I'm concerned about the nutrients, as well. Fish Emulsion is a good fertilizer for outdoor plants, plants in larger containers or raised beds, and for plants growing in-ground. Fish Emulsion needs to be broken down by micro-organisms in the soil to become available for the plant's use; and so, when temperature or moisture levels don't support those populations of microbes, et cetera, the Fish Emulsion isn't broken down and the plant doesn't get those nutrients in a regular, consistent dose. Further, with certain Fish Emulsion, if the soil temps are too low, the unprocessed Emulsion can lead to potential ammonia toxicity in the soil. That's why I only use it when soil/mix temps are above 50F during the primary outdoor growing season. The key to a great fertilizer is inclusion of micro-nutrients and nutrient ratios. Miracle Grow works well in the 3:1:2 ratio (such as 12-4-8 NPK), but will typically lack proper Calcium and Magnesium. Other citrus fertilizers may offer a 5:1:3 ratio, which would also work well, as long as the micro-nutrients are also covered. Meyer Mike and I happen to use Foliage Pro 9-3-6, which contains everything, and we also adjust tapwater pH with vinegar. Just to cover all bases....you did add Lime in your 5-1-1 mix, yes? Comments (22)I like the balance of the dresser picture, maybe a bit more eclectic than traditional. Maybe a second tall apothecary jar instead of lamps? Should I maybe move the bookshelf to the opposite blank wall and have nothing under the stairs but maybe some kind of art? But what shape of art for such an odd angled wall? We took a look at some things we've been holding off throwing out yesterday. We have some large, slender pieces of white laminate from some old flat pack furniture we've been 50/50 on tossing or keeping for some kind of project. My husband thinks he could cut up and use the pieces with some creative use of trim to make a little custom-fit bench/cabinet to hide the shoe rack under the coats very similar to that very nice picture of the rather expensive looking one....See MoreI need to do something with my living room
Comments (3)Thank you for your response. This is a picture of our living room. Is it going to look bad with the grey and white kitchen which adjoins it? The floor is a lighter grey. I am adding light grey weave draperies on the huge triple sliding doors behind the recliners - which open out to the linai on the back of the house. I’m trying to integrate the grey color with my woods & brown tones without going too heavy on the grey. All the walls are being painted a light grey (Balanced by Porter Paints - PPG) with white trim. So far, it looks good. One recliner is deep burgundy leather & the other is blue fabric - both colors are in the area rug. The floor plan of the house is all open for the kitchen & living area & three rooms & 1 of the baths open off of it through doors....See MoreWhat's missing in my living room? Comments (21)Someone said: I believe the Houzz experts (and I am NOT one!) suggest the TV be 2/3 the width of the TV cabinet. No no no no no. The TV cabinet needs to be at least 25% wider than the TV. Wider is always better. There is no minimum size for the TV. Do not hang that guitar between the windows. Do not hang anything between the windows. Your curtains are perfect. Hang the guitar on the wall just left of the TV, get some art for over the sofa, and add just a touch more red to echo the arc lamp (which is tres cool, BTW). You've done a great job so far. You've got this....See MoreElle
