Something missing from tiny entryway...
Comments (22)I like the balance of the dresser picture, maybe a bit more eclectic than traditional. Maybe a second tall apothecary jar instead of lamps? Should I maybe move the bookshelf to the opposite blank wall and have nothing under the stairs but maybe some kind of art? But what shape of art for such an odd angled wall? We took a look at some things we've been holding off throwing out yesterday. We have some large, slender pieces of white laminate from some old flat pack furniture we've been 50/50 on tossing or keeping for some kind of project. My husband thinks he could cut up and use the pieces with some creative use of trim to make a little custom-fit bench/cabinet to hide the shoe rack under the coats very similar to that very nice picture of the rather expensive looking one....See MoreI need to do something with my living room
Comments (3)Thank you for your response. This is a picture of our living room. Is it going to look bad with the grey and white kitchen which adjoins it? The floor is a lighter grey. I am adding light grey weave draperies on the huge triple sliding doors behind the recliners - which open out to the linai on the back of the house. I’m trying to integrate the grey color with my woods & brown tones without going too heavy on the grey. All the walls are being painted a light grey (Balanced by Porter Paints - PPG) with white trim. So far, it looks good. One recliner is deep burgundy leather & the other is blue fabric - both colors are in the area rug. The floor plan of the house is all open for the kitchen & living area & three rooms & 1 of the baths open off of it through doors....See MoreIs my family room missing something?
Comments (68)I suggest getting a caramel colored velvet pillows that tie in the color of you kitchen cabinets which would be a lovely contrast to your sofa. maybe another one that is neutral will lots of texture and possibly change out the rug to something more interesting. pillows and curtains: I think more substantial fabric for the curtains would help as well....See MoreStarting from scratch - need help with living room!
Comments (4)Congratulations on the new home! Here are a few thoughts as you start: If I were to get a sectional, I’d look for one that would “L” the other direction so you’re taking in the fireplace and the lovely window view. Right now the sectional blocks the window a bit. I would pull the chair in to be part of the conversation grouping as well. Your room can fit a sectional, but I prefer separate pieces anyway. They allow more flexibility in the future if you redecorate or move. If it were me, I’d have a sofa opposite the fireplace with a couple of upholstered chairs with a side table between at the end of the couch toward the kitchen. (Leaving space for traffic and stools.) A love seat could work there as well. Another pair of occasional chairs or armless slipper chairs could flank the fireplace or pair up at the other end of the sofa. Make sure when you’re testing wall colors that you look at it with the floor. Your honey color wood will be beautiful, but it may make colors look more vibrant and primary than you’re expecting. I hope some of that helps! Best of luck....See MoreElle
