Dying Haworthia Fasciata?
Comments (5)I have one just like yours (H. fasciata). I believe it turned darker from being in the sun. Mine are always in full sun, but it doesn't get very hot here. Theyprobably would like some shade, but I don't have any! Some plants turn brown or red, but these guys go darker green. I have new pups growing out too. I did go take a look at mine & found it to be wobbly as well. For me, think I found the problem...ANTS...have made their home in it! :( I'll be fixing it up pronto! Do check your roots to see if they are firm (not mushy or rot started) & amend your soil as suggested by Karen above. Yes, I'd say firm it in...after you've checked & amended....See MoreHELP! Jade Plant Dying (Basal Rot?)
Comments (6)Samantha Don't rely on cactus and succulent mix, especially if you have tendency to over-water. Christopher already mentioned well-draining mix. If you have only this succulent, it may not be feasible to look for other ingredients besides perlite. You get faster drainage with addition of some grit. But if that's the only succulent, make sure you add very generous amount of perlite. When cutting rotted part off, you need to cut until there is no sigh of rot anymore (blackish marks on inside of trunk, either spots or thread-like). Even if you need to cut most of the plant, it is better than leaving any rot - this will spread and kill the plant. And even small and healthy piece will grow into a nice plant (providing that it won't get over-watered and it will get more light). Btw, it will grow in lower temps. Jades are very easy to grow, from leaves or from cuttings. But you should consider also improving on light - low light will keep plant growing too stretched and it will never look it's best (it was not top-heavy before, but etiolated as was already mentioned). Comments (17)Sorry again for the late reply. Thank you all a lot for the pictures! It helped me understand better. Unfortunately, I did go to a few flowers/garden shops in my city and I couldn't find anything like that. All I could find was the soil for cactus and succulents I'm using (picture below). I was wondering if the soil mix you guys have is handmade? Like you found the ingredients separately in different shops and mix them together? Good news is my Haworthia seems okay nevertheless... :) About the other plant, I removed it and put it somewhere else since apparently it doesn't go in soil... I'm kinda mad right now because I did all this in a terrarium workshop and everything went wrong (from the glass container to burying an airplant in soil...) *sighs* Thank God this community here is kind enough to help me, I'll never thank you all enough!...See Morecan anyone help me save this Haworthia? Comments (3)bay area guy, I am in agreement with nik! As well as that, I am not sure what kind of pot and soil your plant is in, but make sure it's a well draining pot, and I recommend for soil using one that is specifically designed for Cactus and Succulents. I was able to find some at my local gardening center, but if there isn't one near you, amazon is a dear friend. Overall, your plant looks good and I am sure it will come back! Good luck...See MoreAS _NJ ZONE 6B
