Exterior design help! What would you do?
Comments (4)Skylar- thanks for the comment. We ended up taking the half walls and bottom steps out and replaced the bottom steps with a charcoal brick. When the steps where done we painted the remaining brick steps up to the door to match the new brick. We like it much better now. Here are some pictures from fall 2014 after we completed the work. We also added new house numbers and lights on the garage....See Moreexterior remodel - What would you do???
Comments (17)I also posted on the decorating forum hoping for lots of input! I found an exact match to our stone so I will be putting it around the garden window in the entry and all around the garage door. There will be an address stone centered above the door and new lighting fixtures on either side. The rest of the surfaces will be covered in monterrey taupe hardi board with white trim and black(?) shutters. I want to replace the garage door eventually but DH does not like the mission style door I chose and does not want white. So, I think I'll just paint it to match the taupe until we can agree on something else. Also need to replace driveway (concrete with stones on both sides?) After all is done, I'll work on the landscaping. I'd appreciate any thoughts, comments or suggestions! Here is a link that might be useful: exterior remodel...See MoreWhat would you do? Comments (8)The brick and the window are lovely, is that leaded glass? If it were my home I would not change anything about the homes exterior and would focus instead entirely on landscape/hardscape. First I'd stop shearing the shrubs and let them return to a more natural open look. I'd remove a portion of the lawn and extend the front entrance area into a courtyard, with a short wall or fence, add a stone bench and a low fountain, maybe a bubbler. Then I'd add a curved plant lined pathway through the yard to the front door. I'd finish with outdoor lighting throughout the planted areas, with "up light" on the largest shrubs....See MoreHelp with house exterior. Need ideas, photoshop, advice
Comments (4)The lower pitch of that barn roof looks purely ornamental. Why not remove it? You'll just need to replace some cladding and trim. And wouldn't you like taller windows for the living room? These are centered under the gable....See MoreMelissa C
