I really like Beverly’s suggestions. White with wrought iron and maybe dark wood. Unfortunateky, I think your brown roof is the element that’s going to throw off any efforts to modernize the exterior.

So long as you use a ceramic or mineral based paint you should be fine painting the brick. It basically makes the maintanence that comes with painting brick disappear. The house looks a bit dark as is. I would paint, personally. It would help bring this 70s house up to date. Maybe an off white or gray to help it go with the roof. You can also get more creative with trim and shutter color this way.

Take the shutters off, your windows are not designed for shutters. Paint the front door a bright color, unless that is a natural wood finish, then leave it. Remove wreath. Get a couple of large planters and fill with bright annuals in one, maximum two colors of your choosing and put them on each side of the entry walk. The siding could stand to be a creamier color, the existing color looks a bit pinkish and the stone looks a bit gold-ish. Need closeups.

what kind of budget are you talking?? remove the deck, redo siding, paint brick or stucco it, new windows less costly, you could Romabio the brick, they used it on this brick (which used to be red) get diff siding, remove the shutters, paint the garage door. whatever you do decide, the shutters should be removed. RIP. if you have extra money, turn that walkout deck into more sq footage. ignore the color and style, just look at the layout. similar to yours. see how the 'deck overhang' has been enclosed? Is that something you could do? or just remove it? See how they pushed it out and did wood siding?
