Yep, Dan you are right. I just flipped the light on out on my balcony and sure enough I saw a HUGE mouse or rat run across it. It ran into my storage unit that is connected to my balcony. I'm too freaked out to open that door and see what kind of damage it's done. Yikes! Not sure how to get rid of it/them but hoping maintenance can! Thanks so much as I was on the lookout for those big wood roaches and even put out boric acid. This would explain why I was still seeing the droppings.

First of all, that's not an Aloe vera. It may be an Aloe of some type, possibly a hybrid. Many Aloes are crossed with Haworthia and Gasteria. That can be somewhat problematic since Aloes generally can handle and actually need pretty good light....and Haws and Gasterias don't. The spiny teeth on the edges of the leaves lead me to think it's an Aloe but not crossed with a lower-light plant. Rina is right. Don't mist this plant or any succulent that I know of. Good way to damage it. Personally, I don't believe that having an Aloe indoors, in an east-facing window, is providing it with enough light. I have 4 or 5 aloes, all outdoors on a covered lanai, all facing southwest so they get bright Florida light all day long. I think it needs better light. In summary, better light, no misting, water it when it is DRY, and then don't water it again until it is DRY AGAIN. And cut off the damaged leaf.

If leaf is soggy, especially at the point where it is attached to the main stem, it it overwatered. I am just stating in general, and it would help a lot if you posted a clear, preferably close-up photo of the problem. Few photos would be helpful, showing detail of the leaf where the problem is, and showing whole plant too. Also some more details, like what is the soil plant is in, pot, when and how much you water...

Hey! I replied yesterday but apparently my post disappeared. Let me try again... Two things: Let it be & have patience. Regarding the leaf, not much to be done about that. It formed that way based on what ever other plants where in its way when it was first developing. It won’t ever be straight but it is helping your plant so just leave it be. New leaves either from the center or offsets or both will form and that older leaf will eventually dry up. As far as watering, you’re dealing with a rooted transplant and not a cutting. If this new location has the same soil as the original location where this plant was moved from then I don’t think you have anything to worry about with your watering. Just water this one the same way as you water the others.
