I like your ideabook via the link but I think the current valance and shade are less refined than the window itself and than your other idea book choices so I would consider another window treatment and would hold off on doing wallpaper until you see the finished space because you may find there is enough design interest between the flooring and your other items.

Having looked at your other elements in the link, I find that Elle has a valid point. I love your fabric, but it is casual and modern and does not seem to go with your very traditional fixtures. The geometric pattern of the diamonds with their stripes does not go with the traditional pattern of your basket weave floor.

Torreykm is also right. The cornice board must at least cover the entire window trim on the left, as it does on the right. I am not so certain that the blind has to go, though.

I looked at your ideabooks to see if I could see any other fabric you had considered, and, sure enough, there they were. I would consider these fabrics from your other ideabook:

Get a wallpaper that has matching fabric available. Powder rooms are too small to start mixing prints IMO

I Iove the organic style and I like the fabric you used as well, but because the bathroom is a small space, I’d probably use a simple grasscloth. That doesn’t mean it has to be a boring grass cloth though. There are some really interesting ones out there and IMO they have a very organic but sophisticated look.

Next to your valance, either of these styles would be pretty.

They even come in color!

I clicked the link, but thought these were elements she was considering. I agree - the flooring doesn't work with the more natural items (fabric & wallpaper). However, if that's what she already has in place, a large bath rug could possibly help tie everything together.

I didn’t see (or click on the link) I just read her post and how she prefers organic elements. I think you understand just fine, the cornice is earthy, the flooring is....not so no, you’re not wrong. Are we sure those are what she has in place or are they just what is chosen? She’s posted pics of the cornice to I’m inclined to think maybe they aren’t in yet?

Click the link to see how the bathroom is outfitted. The fabrics I posted are the ones she looked at, put into an ideabook, but discarded. I am thinking that if she simply changes to a cornice that is more classical in style, she has a bath that she will have a lot of wallpaper choices for.

I agree with you Nancy, the cornice is throwing off the space.

Bonna, The problem is you’re trying to mesh two very very different styles when 90% of the room is already completed in one of them. Hard to do successfully, however, outside of the cornice, the elements you’ve incorporated so far are great for a clean and classic look.

The cornice is the problem. It’s not hung a good option for the window due to where it’s placed anyways so isn’t there a way that you can take that down? Like Nancy points out, once you do that, your options are much more open.

Nice but most would not fit in with your sage paint. I’ve found the easiest way to get your room coordinated is to find the fabric (or wallpaper) you want to use first and to pull colors from that for the other elements in the room. Now that you’ve decided to redo the cornice, you need to either find a paper that will work with your paint or find a wallpaper that makes your heart sing (which it really should) and then you can choose the colors from the print for the paint and window fabric.

If repainting isn’t an option (which I can totally understand if it isn’t) What might be a good idea for you to do is to take a sample card of your paint color to the wall paper store and see what options it has that will work with your color choice.

It’s just my own preference, but when I look at inspiration pictures, the rooms I’m most drawn to are those that use the wallpaper more sparingly. Like a half wall with wainscott or when it’s just used on the main wall. For me, a printed wallpaper on all four walls in a small bathroom is dizzying and when I’ve been in them, I can’t wait to exit. That to me, is not a statement, it’s over kill but again, that’s just my own preference. IMO a small room, doesn’t require a lot to make a statement and I’ve learned the hard way, that that old saying, “less is more” is so so true.
