Is the Electrolux built-in microwave a convection microwave?
Comments (4)You re correct cheezyproof, $1400 sounds like too much for just a microwave. We Paid $1397 for the "Speed Oven" in April of 2006, As I recall, it listed for $1600. Looks like I got a good deal on my Miele Optima Dishwasher too (Paneled) $1097 for it. You are correct about Electrolux web-site, It Sucks (bad), you have to do a lotta navigating around to see the different models They should just have one page with all the different models of the "Speed Ovens", another page for the Microwave Models, another for ovens---etc etc. In fact , last time I checked the site, They didn't even have their new "ALL Induction" cooktops----or if they did I wasn't gonna spend the time to "Flush Them Out" Good luck, I should mention we also have the Electrolux Icon Convection oven, paid $1617 for that (30 Inch). It too has been trouble free Gary...See MoreGE Profile Series Built-In Twin Flex Convection Wall Oven undermount
Comments (5)No, I've not had a situation where the ovens are too small. I still use my large cookware since we have extended family near by & we like to entertain too, usually 8 to 10 people. I use a 12 quart stock pot in the lower oven occasionally for simmering (it's great for low, even heat cooking -- really well insulated). There was plenty of room for my 19 pound turkey or the Christmas 5 rib roast beef (the meat probe worked great). I can get my 4 quart covered braiser in the upper oven if I use the lower oven's floor rack, & can then use the lower convection oven for proofing and/or baking. I don't bake more than 3 sheets of cookies at a time because I don't have staging & cooling space for more. But the lower convection oven bakes 2 half sheets of cookies perfectly even, & the upper oven bakes one sheet well too using regular bake. I made a beautiful moist orange chiffon cake last summer, ample room in the lower oven for a tall tube pan & a rising cake. I really put this oven through its paces, trying get a feel for what it can do. Baking's great, roasting's great, proofs dough well. The broilers are underpowered for meats or fish. Those come out baked instead of broiled, & don't get a nice char or crust. But the broilers are fine for browning bread crumbs, toasting rolls, or melting cheese. Preheat is only about 5 minutes faster than my old Kitchenaid single convection oven -- about 15 minutes to reach 350 degrees. From what I read, hidden bake elements just don't preheat ovens as quickly as exposed elements do. But I hate cleaning around exposed elements & much prefer hidden. Speaking of cleaning, this oven stays much cleaner than my Kitchenaid. The convection fan doesn't blow splatter around like the KA did....See MoreMicrowave/Convection vs Microwave/Convection Speedcook
Comments (8)smit2380, I actually feel the same way but wanted the French Doors. Bosch has some with side door openings but Bosch is not available in my area. I just remodeled my kitchen and bought KitchenAid (top of the line) and after 14 service calls on my refrigerator, they finally replaced it. They bought back my double wall ovens because of a health issue. After replacing the second circuit (there were 2) there was a horrible burning smell that gave me a migraine that lasted over a week. The service guy said--that is just new oven smell--I don't think so since I had the ovens for 9 months. My cooktop after having the sensors for 2 burners replaced still does not work right but they tell me that is the way it is supposed to work. One time it takes 5 mins to heat up and other times it takes 10 mins. After all of these issues and I want to build another house????? WE need a house on one level and I am still kicking myself that I did not INSIST on building 2 years ago instead of remodeling. Sorry--I did not mean to make this long....See MoreGourmet Kitchen Double Oven on wall or Single oven w/ microwave
Comments (15)We did option 1 and I don't regret it at all. We have a small countertop microwave that is in a regular upper cabinet with a smaller door - picture below which is much easier than explaining! (Just avert your eyes from any unfinished trim bits you see!) This is the first time I've ever had double ovens and I am still surprised at how often I use them - it's so much easier to plan meals that have two different oven temp needs. It feels positively luxurious to be able to have several different things going in the oven at once! Also--before we renovated, our kitchen had a fancy Kitchenaid combination convection microwave/oven like in your option 4. We had so much trouble out of that thing. The microwave had to be repaired a couple times, and the oven electrics would freak out and stop working every single holiday we hosted! We kept them both limping along, but since they were attached, we would have had to replace both appliances if one of them totally broke....See MorePaul
