Can you return the yellow bag and get a bag that is nothing but fertilizer? That yellow bag probably not going to do anything for you. Generally weed and feed products are sold to unsuspecting noobs who haven't read all the info here. They sound good in the marketing but they don't work like you expect they would. It is far better to fertilize first and then come back 2 weeks later with a real weed killer like Weed-b-Gone spray to spot spray the weeds. Healthy weeds die better than unfertilized weeds, so fertilize first. Unfortunately both bermuda and crabgrass perform at their best when mowed short. So you have that going against you in the battle. Also unfortunately the seed stalk for crabgrass looks very much like the one for common bermuda. Can you post a picture that shows what you're seeing? If you've read the Bermuda Bible then you know that having a really nice bermuda lawn all season long is a lot of work. Halts now would not hurt anything and will stop any new seedlings from taking root. Halts is an interesting product. It really can be used a lot more often than they tell you. But if you can 'densify' your turf with proper care, you'll minimize the weeds. Mow low, water only infrequently, and fertilize a lot. That will give you the best density and keep the most weeds out.

Oh, so it really is nutgrass? I had nutgrass a couple years ago, but I was able to eradicate it until now. I just didn't identify it since the appearance of this weed is different from what I was familiar with. I thought nutgrass was identified by its tall, long, and thick yellow blades; however, from what I can tell, this weed doesn't meet any of that criteria. I assume the small green balls are actually the flower? Mine haven't bloomed yet, but this picture I found on Flickr seems to be the closest to what I have: http://www.flickr.com/photos/97769244@N00/1347478544/ Also, shortly after I posted, I found another plant called Sparganium which bears a striking resemblance to the current appearance of my yard. I have no idea how it could have gotten into my yard, or how it would even survive in my dry, full-sun soil.
