Toilets - single flush or dual flush?

Building a new house, and I can pick between the two. Since I am trying to make green/environmentally friendly decisions where possible, I'm thinking dual. Or maybe have some single, and some dual. Any problems with the dual? Is one more reliable than the other? What about durability?

The Toto Aquia is a very nice, comfortable toilet. It was originally made to work in a quick replacement commercial environment so the flange adaptor installation is fairly unique and permanently attaches to the floor. This will makes things more complicated if you later wish to go back to an older style toilet. The two buttons are simply over ridden by pushing down and holding them down which a person not familiar with the system would usually do. There is little water in the bowl and a premium on bombing accuracy and pre positioning of toilet paper. It is a toilet best suited to exclusive ensuite private use by adult married couples in North America. Given your space requirements, best to get something more conventional. Brand New Dual Flush Toilet Wasting Water

I just installed a brand new American Standard dual flush toilet and the fill valve turns off and on during periods of non-use. The refill tube is above the overflow pipe and I've also done the flush valve clearing procedure. What else can it be, its driving me nuts knowing its a brand new unit.

Not able to answer to specific model you name, but I have not gotten a good, useable plunger seal on any toilet since the ones that have less than 5-6gallons. Finally tossed the plunger. We bought an auger and it's the only thing that works on our toilets....Eljer, Mansfield, Koehler ... since the 1980s. Kind of disgusting but it works.

Install both in your new home. Make note of the differences. Sell the resulting reviews; Consumer Report does it, why can't you?

Install a bidet for the rinse and wash cycle.

The best toilet is one that you only have to flush once. More important than the single / dual question is effectiveness in clearing the bowl. Look up the "MAPP" ratings that the government puts out. You can do well with either option, but you can also do poorly.

Depending on how many people live in the home and how much they are home, I think performance is most important.

Kids will test toilets well beyond govt standards. Toto, some Kohler, Amer Std. I swear by Terry Love's toilet reviews.

Seriously, can someone explain the price of the Toto Neorest to me? I like the look very much and I am willing to pay somewhat for a nice wall hung toilet with a washlet- but 10K? What does this toilet have that others don't?

There cannot be many people willing to spend that much on a toilet that is not signed Duchamp!

Kohler dual flush. Never plunged and 2 months in and that is unusual for us. Lowest water bill ever for our family.

Thanks for the video, Mike. I love the self cleaning features. I still cannot imagine that price though. I wonder if they priced it like that to get lots of attention and build up demand in anticipation of eventually selling it for one tenth the price- because that is about as much as I can fathom paying for a toilet myself.

Yes, but, boys and girls...the Toto 750 comes with this nifty wall mounted controller...and it can store settings for up to two people! You'll never have to worry again about what to do or the sequence to do it...!

Golly-gee...what more do you want for $10K...?
