We are getting ready to renovate (with the help of a plumber) our laundry closet on the 2nd floor of our condo. We have purchased a stackable LG washer/dryer set and will be installing a new utility sink where the old washer used to be. There is a floor drain already in place under the flooring but the old washer was in a pan that didn't use it. I plan to use it in the renovation. It is 2" PVC pipe and will sit below the utility sink. I have designed (on paper) a drain pan that will be built with 1/8" steel and then powder coated bright white for aesthetic purposes. It will cover every inch of the closet floor to protect from leaks from the washer or the utility sink. I have a couple questions about how to best utilize the floor drain: 1. Is it necessary for the pan to have a slight slope for draining, this could be difficult since the washer and dryer require a very even surface to reduce vibration. 2. How should the drain coming out the bottom of the pan be designed? Is it best to have a small hollow cylinder and attach to it some durable 3/4" tubing and feed it loosely into the 2" PVC? Or would a direct connection using a shower drain that would seal with the 2" PVC below work best? Any helpful comments would be appreciated

I've been researching washer and dryer stackables. I have found these two companies, equator and conserv. When you look at their stackable washer/dryer sets they look to be identical. I cannot find the manuals for conserv, so I cant do a compare. Anyone have any info as to the differences in the two brands? Does anyone have experience with either of the two brands?

A stackable pair ... meaning a frontload washer with a dryer set on top that can also be separated and run in side-by-side orientation? Or a stacked pair, meaning a unitary machine that can comprise either a frontload or a topload washer, with dryer at the top, and can't be run separated? Model number(s) of the machine would clarify your situation.

@Terry Joiner I think your table idea between units is smart if you have to stack. Having had to pull our front load dryer out to replace heating element and pull our front load washer out to do something with the water supply I would never stack units. I didn’t think people stacked units because they like the look of them. I always thought it was because of space contraints but maybe I am wrong, I have never used front load stackables but when I see pictures of them the controls just look too high for me. I am only 5 ft. This is the unit my daughter has in her apartment, The clothes do not take any longer to dry than my Electrolux front load but they are much smaller loads.
