Medicine Cabinet Question

In my master ensuite I have a nice dark solid wood vanity with a large matching wooden mirror on top. I am tired of my counter always being cluttered with face creams, lotions, etc. I am thinking of putting a medicine cabinet over the bisque coloured toilet which sits right next to the vanity. The room is very light colours and I'm trying to decide if the medicine chest should match the colour of the toilet (cream) or dark wood since it would be next to a large wooden mirror. There's no room for a mirror at the side wall. Thoughts??

Would you do the frame in cream (match toilet) or dark wood (match vanity bottom)? I like that!

We looked at the Robern cabinets which are excellent quality, but so expensive. We were very impressed with Maax medicine cabinets - also great construction and unique features, but the style was not a good fit for us. We even thought of changing our vanity style to match a Maax. In talking to our cabinet designer, he was able to custom design a cabinet with all the features and dimensions we specified for much less than the Maax pricing of $700-$800 for a 24 x 36 unit.

'nother vote for toothbrush. Somewhere, years ago, I read a suggestion that people put marbles in their medicine cabinets before a party; if a guest opens the medicine cabinet, all the marbles fall out & make a lot of noise. It sounds passive-aggressive to me ('hmmm, think I'll see if I can catch my guests doing something they aren't supposed to do'), but maybe putting the marbles in there & telling everybody that they're there would accomplish the same goal. or maybe putting all your medicine cabinet things in a box in the back of a closet before a party!

I think matching your dark wood would look nicely pulled together.

Thanks...even though the the bottom of vanity and mirror over it are the only "dark" things in the room? I'm on the hunt now!

I think so, but honestly, it's really your call. Frames, whether mirrored or not, can be metal as well, if you wanted to pick up another element. Search for some bathrooms that appeal to you, here you can search under photos, maybe something will stand out.

I ordered this from Pottery Barn. It's a small pivot mirror with storage on the back.

I recessed mine and matched the wall color.

I prefer recessed...cabinet fronts look fine....or recessed shelving. It looks better if you can't see what's being stored.
