Is it me, or anyone else does not like bourbon rose fragrance?
Comments (35)Three cheers for your grandmother and her adventurous sense of color! May we all be bold rather than discreet in our old age. But perhaps we should skip the cheap cologne. I suspect the half bottle was because many people lose their sense of smell as they age and she honestly thought it didn't have much perfume to it. As for rose scents, I love them as rich and as heavy as can be. I love other intense scents, too, jasmine, lilies, honeysuckle. I will say that I prefer most flowers out of doors. Scented cut flowers in the house sometimes give me intense headaches, honeysuckle especially. Lilies are also too strong indoors. Narcissi actually become unpleasant to me in the house, developing a chemical undertone that reminds me of petrochemicals. Roses, though, are wonderful in the house or in the garden. And the same is true of my absolute favorite flower scent, lilacs. Rosefolly...See MoreHarlow Carr, Cezanne, Bourbon and why not???
Comments (42)It would be nice to "support" my local nursery when it comes to Clematis..but around here..I can't hardly find any...Lowe's, Walmart have those itty bitty orange pots of them from Roseville..I've had success with those but they don't even compare to the Ones I've bought from Dan,Debbie,Murray or Chad..I would rather pay $16.00+ for a well rooted clematis from any of them for something I really really just gotta have!!..It's really strange when I go to the nurseries for they call me the clematis lady..from all the times I've asked if they have any or when will they get some or can I talk to the manager to ask if they'll add them to their inventory..I was SO SHOCKED this year...I saw Lowe's had ONE-GALLON clematis but to my dismay..they were one's I had...I did pay 10bucks for a one-gallon "Snow Queen" that my climbing rosa "Don Juan" asked me to pick up for him..I think they shall be divine together!!...Jeanne...See MoreGasp! Comments (73)Patty_V, sorry you think I came off bossy. I certainly didn't mean to. Of course it's hard rearranging furniture - we're in our 60's and a recent re-arrangement of our MBR and LR furniture required two appts with a pro mover who specializes in small moves, as well as 15 min from some younger friends who had to help my DH hold up a teak bookcase while I reset and screwed in the back so it would stop slipping off. Ah, the things DH and I used to do all by ourselves....now we plan things better :). I rearranged our own LR, not because I had to, but because I was tired of it after 26 yrs and it was never quite "right". So I thought the OP felt similarly about her front room. She did not put in any qualifiers in her post, if you will recall, regarding furniture placement. Keeping the loveseat where it is to look at the bunnies is very sweet (I was born in the Year of The Rabbit, in fact - go bunnies!). Ingrid's made some minor changes to the FR, and I do like it better. Her beautiful vases are much more easily seen and appreciated. We collect Asian art and mineral specimens. Every couple of years I move things around. It keeps the eye "fresh"....See MoreDon't take away our ladies' rooms!
Comments (134)I honestly don't see what the problem is with unisex bathrooms. I've used porta-potties at construction sites that were cleaner than some retailers toilets. Gas stations often have uni bathrooms inside, a lot more restaurants are moving that way too. As for doing #2 in public-I'm in an office all day. After the 2nd cup of coffee you KNOW there is going to be use of that toilet. And I'm not ashamed to use the restroom there. I'm probably a lot more comfortable with bodily functions than a lot of the posters here-and I feel that a lot of our queasiness is due to social upbringing. I am conscientious of odors (use spray) and I apologize if sounds are made and i know someone else is in there also. I also make it a point to double flush-just to ensure cleanliness for the next person. But I'm an adult-I know that everyone poops! I'd sure hate to think of holding it in-the damage to my digestive system alone would be reason not to. I've actually run in to one transgender person in a restroom-this was years ago and at first, I'll admit, I was a bit put off (it was at a rest stop off the freeway-not one of the safest places) but after I thought about it-she was dressed in a dress with hose, had her hair done and make up-obviously identified as a woman. She would not have been safe at all in the mens room-and seemed more nervous about being in the womens room than the women in there were of her. I've never taken the idea that a man would dress as a woman just to go into a womens room. For crying out loud-if they're going to be a predator-they're just going to go in when it's clear and hide in a stall....See MoreKathi Steele
