Comments (3)I would not paint the brick. You take a no maintenance product and turn it into a long term maintenance issue. Deco has a good idea of beefing up the columns. If a new front door is not in the budget then paint the one you have and add a POP of color to the front of the house, drawing the eye to the entrance. None of your windows are appropriate for shutters. They would have to be so wide to cover the windows that they would not look right. If you're going to use white then use one color of white for the trim and the windows. If you use two different whites the one on the trim is going to end up looking dingy when seen with the windows. Your shingles are a brown so I would stay away from black. You could paint the trim taupe (brown/gray), sage green, etc. and leave the windows white. If you wanted to do a porch rail I would paint it the same color as the trim. New landscaping would of course also help. Comments (2)I think that LRV is the least important and easiest to determine aspect of color when trying to blend/match/complement another surface. Any light color, including white, has a high LRV--Chantilly Lace is 90% and White Wisp is 80%, so you probably won't see a difference between them outside, especially on a sunny day. More importantly, you need to take into account the hue and chroma of a color when looking for a complementary color for the pavers. Hue meaning the actual color as per the "rainbow" (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple), and chroma meaning how bright or saturated the color is. Your pavers look to be gray (from what I can tell from the photo), and if you want a color with a lower LRV, which means a darker color that won't be so reflective, then go with a medium gray, not any of the whites. Try Coventry Gray (HC169), Boothbay Gray (HC165), Brewster Gray (HC162), or any of the medium grays in the fandeck. Keep in mind that you need to see a large sample of the color outside, on sunny and cloudy days, to select the best color. Also keep in mind that all the neutral grays belong to a hue family--some will appear more blue/green/purple, etc. but you can only tell how they'll appear by viewing them yourself in your space. Good luck with your search!...See MoreWe need help choosing exterior colors for our house in Seattle
Comments (10)you already have the dark windows, so that's good. do a medium gray roof. that color will go w/everything. Do you like dark? if you did the dark siding and added some wood composite siding, it could look a bit more modern. I notice you have some cedar up under the roof eaves. that would be cool if you could do it elsewhere on the home. similar home style with a darker green siding and the brick lighter gray (btw, these all have the stairs like you have. check out some of the landscaping around them wood doors, and all the siding running the same way. Another gray with shingle siding. arbor over garage. cool landscaping here's a before and after where they painted the brick and did the black windows and added some wood siding accents...See MoreJudyG Designs
