lisa'a master bath remodel part II
Comments (48)i'm not quite 100% done, but my bathroom is finally usable!! we got the tub in last weekend and had a few leaky episodes before we figured out that i had missed one of the cpvc fittings when i glued everything together between the hot/cold valves & the spout. fortunately it was an easy fix, and i have been enjoying my new tub since then :) i got a euro type of vanity because of how tight the toilet area is already. never would pass code here because of how close it is to the tub deck, but it wasn't within code to begin with, and once i get an ada toilet it won't be a big deal, at least for me. i would have moved it over a bit, but there is a joist right there so we would have had to go way far or deal with changing the joists - neither was appealing. still looking for a good shower curtain, but in the mean time i'm using a cheap stall liner. also decided to leave the area to the left of the sink undone - i'm not sure what to do with it, so i'm going to live in the room for a while & see what it would be best as. the med cabinet looks a bit off center - just how the stud cavity fell - but it works well with the mirror inside the door, and i think once i figure out all of the rest of that corner, it will look more balanced here are a few pics - please ignore the unfinished details :) lisa from the doorway to the left the shower & ikea storage tower the tub...See Moremaster bath size and his/her questions for mcm house
Comments (4)Many people cross post because the Kitchen Forum gets more traffic, and the essential planning concepts are very similar. We are very visual, so an actual scaled drawing with measurements (on graph paper or something) is really preferable to a schematic. My initial thought is that you will not be able to get full his/her in this amount of space and have it feel like a master bath. You may be able to do two toilet compartments and share the rest of the space. I am putting two full baths in 13+ x 6'9" so I know it can be done, but one of them is tiny and requires a wall hung toilet. (I had squeezed it down to 12 but figured out that moving things a bit over a foot to gain a foot in the bedroom was not worth it.) But this is an urban house and half the size of yours and I only started with 1.5 baths and will end up with 3, so I have a different program....See MoreHelp please/Master bath remodel free standing tub idea
Comments (2)Is the den a feature of the master bedroom? How does the bath relate to the master? You don't want to get to the front door and remember to go back and get a jacket in that closet; what a trek! I think the den closets need to be incorporated into a gutted bath to add some square footage into the footprint of the bath. Put dual sinks under the two windows and put a free standing tub out in the floor area so it can be a feature, and so your housekeeper can keep the floor around it clean. You could also incorporate the WIC into the bath and change the den to a dressing room/closet....See Moremaster bath remodel layout- where to place shower
Comments (4)The only way to get help here is to post a to scale floor plan . IMO free standing tubs are a PITA to get in and out of and IMO will be as dated as the corner tub you have now very soon.So post the floor plan and also some info as to what can be moved as far as plumbing is concerend. Keep in mind moving a toilet is expensive but can be done. Free standing tubs need lots of space to look right BTW...See Morejbuhler
