With the coastal colors you might want to go with a turquoise color to brighten it and help it stand out:

I really like your stone and siding and trim colors. A nice bright door in the oranges like Sina posted would look terrific! I also found this front door color on Houzz today..it picks up a color in the stone. Do you have a color similar to this in your stone? You might have to play around with the orange colors by sampling to get the best result in your light. The one below looks very nice with the stone and siding colors. JMO

That colonial style door and sidelights is not original and should be replaced. I have added a MCM door and sidelight, replaced the traditional light fixture and moved the address numbers.

I don't think replacing the door/sidelight was an option? I really love the colours other's have posted. Not a fan of the black door though. I'm partial to turquoise and I know it would look beautiful with the siding.

Regarding the color selection, right now I'm leaning towards the orange. Has anyone ever used Ben Moore's Racing Orange? I'm wondering if that would be the burnt orange I'm looking for. I'm in a very traditional neighborhood and do not want to shock my neighbors with anything too bright.

screw the neighbors, get something that makes you smile every time you come home. I love seeing unexpected, bright, fun colors on front doors but no one ever does it...so go for it.
