I'd keep the maple, daylilies, the Sedum and the daffodils behind the Sedum in your last pic. There's another little Sedum behind the hose. Directly in front of the big Sedum is either a Rudbeckia or Echinacea, some would save that one and since there is only one in all your pics you might want to save that one, I wouldn't though. I noticed the dog strangling vine in one picture but there is also vinca growing under everything in that picture as well, you'll probably have to dig that out because it doesn't respond very well to Roundup. The dog strangling vine doesn't either. I think if I was just getting started gardening here, I'd leave this spot for last and just weed whack it for now, lol. Unless it's in a prominent spot. It looks like the gardener before you took most of the good stuff, luckily the beds look fertile, just give them a thorough weeding and they should be good to go. Can't wait to see the rest of your pics.

Just took a quick look, but I see lambsquarters, ragweed, and chickweed. I wouldn't let any of these go to seed! The nightshade is toxic - suggest you remove this immediately.

The easiest way to ID weedy grasses is from the inflorescence, the seed producing stalk. Compare your weed to Dallisgrass, you could also try asking on the grasses forum or Name That Plant. Good luck!

Hi all, This is an immature hawk (Brown, pale eyes, breast streaking,...) This bird has a buteo shape (large body and head, short tail, and like Elly said, the wing tips reach tip of the tail.) Nathan was right comparing the breast streaking of Cooper with Sharpie, but, what we have here is a buteo not an accipiter. The streaking extends all over the breast and upper breast of that bulky bird, so it is not a Red-tailed Hawk wich show a clear patch on upper breast. The outer feathers of the tail show neat barring, not a faded one like we see on immature Red-tailed or immature Broad-winged (Broad-winged Hawk are still far South anyway). Elaine, your bird is an immature Red-shouldered Hawk like Orrin and Bob said. Luc
