Converting presser canner to rocker gauge?
Comments (6)I personally believe that anyone living at 1000 feet or less and owns a Presto canner has no concerns about their own time to not use the 3 piece weight set. Good advise on NOT calling Presto. Their representatives do not, and have not even seen, most of the products they talk to you about (I have asked them). Presto apparently doesn't even walk them through a room of products and rudimentary explain what their products do. Calling Presto Customer Service in the US is little difference from calling a "call center" in India or Serbia. So sad that unpaid folks such as many of us have the answers that Presto Customer Service has no idea about. Jim in So Calif...See MoreRocking chair antique-- pls help identify
Comments (11)BUT....it's also a chair..... And while it might not have the salability as an antique one may wish....it's still a usable piece of furniture. You could sell that chair for just what you paid....but then you will have to go buy something to take it's place. Antiques that serve a purpose are different to me than those things you buy and stick in a cupboard in hopes that they will appreciate in value....or worse yet....collecters items. I have a round oak table....bought a long long time ago, before the golden oak boom....so I got a huge bargain. They the bottom dropped out of the golden oak market, and not many years later that table is now worth about 10 times what I paid. If I had invested the money I paid some 45 years ago....likely I would have had more than I could sell that table for....BUT....all these years I have had a table for eating, for homework for projects.......and it's still worth about 10 times what I paid. Comments (4)It looks like Mission to me and I just love it! I'm a quilter and knitter and would give my right leg to have a chair like that--I need my right arm for the sewing and knitting. >grinOk, next time you compose a message, just go to photobucket, highlight the "HTML Code....." under the picture you want to include, then go back to the message and paste it in. When you see the preview of your message, you should see your picture in place. It seemed complicated to me the first time I tried it, but it's actually pretty easy. It'd have to be if I can do it! Comments (22)Leafy, I would encourage you to get a bentwood rocker since that's what your heart is telling you. I'm all for embracing midlife crises! Life is too short to deny such small pleasures. From my own experience family members and even BFF are not always the best ones to make our decisions for us. Several times DH and I did what family advised and later realized it would have been better to have done what we wanted rather than what they thought was good for us. They think they are protecting us from bad or trivial decisions but not all trivial decisions are bad. With such an inexpensive purchase as a bentwood rocker you cannot lose because if you find later that you don't love it you can sell it. Decorating can be trial and error and we mustn't be afraid of making inexpensive mistakes. I've always liked bentwood rockers and even the dining chairs but never had any. I couldn't justify the cost back when we were 'poor' (relatively speaking) and later didn't want one as much. Later, in the late 70's (I may have been having an almost-midlife-crisis then ;D) I did buy a hanging rattan 'hippy' chair and still have that. I bought it in Europe when we lived there. There is quite a cottage industry in wicker wear in the Black Forest and it's larger and of better construction than the cheap ones that are made in Asia. I even put it in my LR when I began to decorate in a more BoHo style and the Grands love sitting and rocking in it. I like the contrast between it and my more traditional pieces and have never regretted buying it altho I know some people look askance at it. Thanks for the link olychick. I love the painted bentwood rockers....See MoreUser
