Height of pot filler. Deciding today!
Comments (5)I know it's what you want, but I never could understand a pot filler. I dont like the idea of a faucet without a drain under it. With limited use, I wonder how stale the water gets. I'm afraid of filling a pot so that I wouldn't be able to lift to empty it....and you do have to empty it at some point which is when it's fullest, hottest and most dangerous to lift. Filling a pot with cold water isn't so scary....and that way I know I can lift it. Just my POV FWIW....See MorePot Filler Installation ?
Comments (10)Mine is mounted dead-center for functional reasons. I have a 48" range with four burners on the left, a grill and two burners on the right. So I bought a Chicago Faucets potfiller that can reach every burner on the range. When folded it's either left or right of center. Height-wise, I took the form-over-function approach and mounted it so that the straight arm of the faucet is in line with the cabinet bottoms at about 18" off the counter. In hindsight, I probably should have stuck with function and lowered the spout another couple of inches. I have a bit of splashing if I turn it on full too quickly. But I've learned to start slow before turning it up. Here's a picture:...See MorePot Fillers! Countertop vs wall mounted? Placement over burners?
Comments (65)Kudzu, there are many posts in this thread, and other threads throughout GW on potfillers regarding how to avoid having the access to the shut-off valve walled in. “Trying to access plumbing from the underside is not going to be useful for most valves.” Most people have kitchen sinks, agreed? Access to shutoffs (hot and cold) is below the sink. Potfiller access can be the same (below the potfiller in a cabinet, or behind a drawer cabinet base. It’s not difficult. “For a pot filler, I'm simply saying that having it more accessible than in the wall is the choice I'd make.” Fully agree and it's the smart thing to do while installing one. Marcaevans, I wouldn’t want hot water at the potfiller. Hot water is handy for washing hands, dishes and rinsing dishes, but I never use it for cooking pastas, or adding to soups and stocks, or using in any of my cooking. Hot water is more likely to leach contaminants from the pipes. If I need hot water for cooking, I heat cold water on the stove or in the microwave. I really like your BBQ sink setup! Hduns, yep, it’s hard to find a deckmount PF in various styles and finishes!...See MorePot filler(s) over Wolf 60 inch range?
Comments (9)Hi there, great find on that range! I wish my kitchen could support a 60” range but I do not have the proportional space unfortunately, not even close. I am in the middle of my own kitchen remodel and opted for a 48” bluestar. I have one pot filler and that’s all you would really need as well. Just slide the pots when full =). I just got the hood and blower installed and figured I would offer a counter opinion to the ones above. I have one of the most powerful blowers on the market for residential ventilation, a Prizer 1400 cfm external unit. The thing is huge, and per the blower curve specifications, outperforms the so called “1500 cfm” offerings from other popular brands I won’t shame here. The thing sounds like a jet engine from out the back side of the house where it’s mounted, but completely silent from the kitchen. All you hear is the woosh of air being sucked up through the baffles. You wouldn’t know there was a motor at all by noise alone. I put a great deal of thought, money, and engineering to make this happen, but the results paid off. Quiet and powerful ventilation is possible....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
