Senior dog losing use of back legs
Comments (11)I would expect that a "country vet" might have clients that raise animals for slaughter. I also suspect that those ranchers certainly can distinguish between a "profit center" and a "pet"but the Vet and the Rancher may be somewhat more pragmatic in their end-of-life decisions. I have a Greyhound dog that raced 147 races at the track in Tampa, FL, before sustaining a non life-threatening injury. It appears that she was very well taken care of while she was winning but when she injured herself she was a money-loser and was likely going to be destroyed. She's sleeping by feet as I type and I periodically send photos to her her original owner in FL. He had named her after a granddaughter of his, but it was about owing a "pet." I suspect when I have to let her go, I'll cry, her original owner will not....See MoreYou know you are a senior citizen when ...
Comments (100)I have been carded most of my adult life. When I was 18 I was embarrassed. In my 20s I was annoyed. During my 30s I was thrilled! In my early 40s it was back to being embarrassing. It only happened once but it was doosy. I was going trough a checkout at a grocery store. My purchase included a bottle of wine, and the elderly gentleman checker asked for my ID. I assumed it was an awkward attempt at flirting so I smiled at him and said "I don't think so". He loudly and sternly said "Young lady, I don't make the rules here and I like my job." I produced my ID, which he examined closely before ringing up my bottle of wine. By then everyone nearby was following this weird episode and snickering. They clearly had better eyesight than the old gentleman! He did apologize and said the store had a policy of checking everyone buying alcohol who looked like they might be 30 or less, so I guess it was a compliment of sorts but one I could have lived without! Since then, no one asks for my ID anymore. Now I miss it. Sigh......See MoreRally Sign: Seniors + Seniors For Gun Control
Comments (40)Many innocent lives have been lost because of an irrational fear that if you give an inch on safe gun laws, the government will take a mile and come for your guns. This is why we do nothing. It's irrational when people buy guns and more guns to protect themselves from government. Try protecting yourself with a gun from a government intent on taking your guns. Have you ever watched the NRA ads featuring Dana Loesch? It's pure irrational fear-mongering. The NRA has identified their enemies and they are liberals, journalists, public school teachers, and Hollywood. Oh, and Obama, of course. This ad is delivering a very dangerous and frightening message: Dana Loesch NRA Ad The fear that guns will ever be outlawed is an extremist view, as is the belief that we will ever outlaw guns....See MorePeople shopping during Costco senior hours?!
Comments (29)It's even on this thread.... I'm special. No, I have an underlying condition that would make it certain, that I would be hospitalized and probably would die from COVID. But I take it so seriously, I'm not going to be there, amongst throngs of people. I'm not going to go beyond your barrier. I'm not going to go past the safe distance. I will wear my mask. I will make sure you do not touch my money, by paying for it ahead of time, or using a card and I don't push buttons. Fine, I am special. I would prefer not to be. How about you take over for me, you be an asthmatic and worry about getting a deadly breathing disorder?...See Morechisue
