Comments (7)Another reason not to mix custom stains. It doesn't take much to make the incorrect mix. Samples are measured with spoons, then you have to figure out the ratio for the actual project. It becomes more difficult when you need to do touch ups or spot fixes, which will most likely result in a entire floor refinish. Comments (2)It depends on your color of stain. We bought a house w/ dark stained floors and couldn't tell that they were mixed red and white oak. We wanted light floors so we had to rip out and replace the parts that were red. We ended up with an order of red by mistake so we used it in another room that has two steps down (thinking it might not be as noticeable).
