I'm 5'6 and I hang my photos at eye level for me. My son and husband are over 6' tall and that works for us. I can't stand art being so low that I have to bend down to look at it.

Usually you would hang art with the center at about 60”. If it’s in a room where you will be usually seated, or above a sofa or console, i think you can hang it lower. Is there going to be a piece of furniture under it?

In looking at the overall wall space dimensions your artwork should take up 2/3 to 3/4 of the wall.

That sounds awfully large Poonam. Does this mean that if I have a 12 ft. Long wall I need an 8 ft wide painting?? The artwork in question already looks a bit big for the space to me.

Here it is again at 60" midline.

I will be seated in the area in front of it but it will be one of the first things that you see when you walk in.

saypoint, I think the presence of a bookcase seems to reduce the available space but lowering the painting seems to align things better.

saypoint, there will not be anything under it once it is hung.

Yes, I mean vertically. I also would not center it. Put it towards the left side, near the lamp. I tried to photoshop it for you but for some reason cant get the photo to load.

Don't you want to hang it where you can enjoy it? Centered 5' above the floor will be perfect for viewing from your desk chair.

@Akin Oh sorry :D I mean Furniture not the wall. it should be 2/3 to 3/4 the width of your furniture. It should be hung 6” - 12” above the top of your furniture.

I liked ilikefriday's idea of moving it to the right, but due to the small wall space, I think I will just relocate the bookcase instead.
