Art above couch - framing/positioning
I can't decide how I want my living room photos to look. Here is a photo rendition of the frames/photos I want to use, but it doesn't feel quite right. The photos across the two pictures comes from one photo that I broke up into chunks. Any suggestions? The first photo looks too stark because the photos are a true landscape. I think the white mat around the photos helps with that.
Haven't decided with frame color (e.g. black, wood, gold, silver).
Comments on spacing of the photos? Are they too large?

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoCombo one with no mat and wood frame (match the couch). Bring the diptych in closer , almost touching, yet leaving enough space to show the wall color. The two photos could be even larger. Very nice...

If you have to find something inexpensive now, I'd consider a large engineering print from your local Staples. If you have an Ikea near you, buy the largest frame there you can afford and have an engineering print made to fit. Go ahead and keep the clutter pillows if you love them but don't be offended if guests with bad backs (hi there) need to put them on the floor in order to be comfortable. Go for a more layered look with some warm accents, and find a painting that also has some warm colors in addition to the cool tones you seem to like. 4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoWhen you use one photo in two "chunks" I think it looks better to not do the mats. In fact I like them to be stretched canvas and go frameless. You might look and see if three chunks would work or do it as one large print? (Odd numbers are usually more apealing to the eye) and that would fit the size of your wall better.
