How about a "blueberry"--very grayed-down blue. That color would be a complement to the warm rust of your brick & would liven things up without taking over. Also Williamsburg blue--a greyed blue-green--might work; that would be more interesting than plain dark green.

Hi! I am quietly observing! Ha! You are all right in some way---the roof is definately gray. The door is NOT centered and the mailbox does belong to the left of the door (the wider side). I really don't know what the original builders were thinking to not make it centered, but it was going to entail way too much to change it when we resided. Our intensions are to put the house up for sale this summer/fall. We bought it and slowly redid the entire house inside and out-now we're feeling the need to get to the country - and likely start all over again! :) With all of that said-I'm not looking to spend a TON of money, but we will definately be painting the porch, putting the window boxes up, painting the door, putting new lights/lanterns up, and a new mailbox mounted to the house. Thank you so much for all your help...I will definately post pictures of our progress!! We're starting on it this weekend!

Having gone through the process of picking exterior colors, I agree with the above poster that you must get sample pots and try the colors outside at your house. Sample boards work - I used old boards and leftover pieces of drywall - because then you can walk around the house with them. I was amazed at how different a color looked in the front of my house versus the back. If the store where you plan to buy the paint does not offer the sample pots, Home Depot can make up sample pots in colors from other companies. You then have to test it against your paint chip, but it is amazing how well their computer is able to match a color. Do not try to save money by not testing your colors.

This is a recommended color from SW for Mindful Gray…homburg gray. I would do this on the shutters and the garage doors and leave the wood door as is. The two middle windows shouldn’t have shutters as the won’t fit appropriately, but you are not painting the siding and the darker outlines of the shutters will show if you don’t replace what was there. Personally, would like the house with out shutters and would probably paint the siding and garage doors and have no shutters at all.
