advice needed on exterior....please help!!
Comments (13)I like the color of the house right now. It looks like a stain, rather than a paint. I would try and match that color, although, think you may have to go solid color stain, since the stain on there is in pretty bad condition. The house has a rustic look to it, and I would play that up with the colors....See MoreHelp Needed! Exterior home color advice
Comments (9)thank you for the thoughts - very much appreciate it!... I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks brown would look odd... the color on the house right now is a very, very light cream - - i think the picture is representing the color wrong right now, as it definitely doesn't have a pink hue... i'd say its a standard tan, with an even lighter, off-white trim color... my wife is insistent about not going all-white, with fear of how dirty it can and/or will get. however, the several comments about white do help make me feel better that i'm not the only one who doesn't think a dark color will work, and a light tan/cream will be the right choice. ultimately, i foresee us landing on something like the below photo, but hopefully with a little less yellow. it might be the common choice, but its tried and true and looks great, imho. https://cdn.jhmrad.com/wp-content/uploads/mediterranean-house-color-schemes-exterior-keboconstruction_152212.jpg...See Morespruce up exterior help! red door? need all the advice we can get
Comments (7)What a gorgeous home! And it appears to be in beautiful condition, well cared for, too! Lucky you! I would, at most, take off your screen door as it obscures your front door. I love how it matches your garage doors. Live with your home for a while. I would focus on refreshing the landscaping, including annuals, perennials, etc. to add color. I don’t know that a red front door will add much to your brick home. I would wait on that. I, for one, love your wrought iron posts! VERY period appropriate for your home. Appreciate what you have by looking at the RetroRenovation.com website for tips on how to enhance its intrinsic beauty....See MoreHelp!!! Need advice on good trim colors for Alabaster white exterior
Comments (19)How about rethinking your plan? Here is a inspirational photo and a color palette as example. I am OK with your shutters because they look like they could be functional and they provide vehicle for accent color. I would paint body BM Tarrytown green or similar color and shutters complimentary orange/rusty red for accent. I suggest you look on Houzz for pictures you like that are inspirational to you and post in a new Ideabook here on Houzz. You only have 2 Ideabooks now so it would help us “see” what you like and envision. Great house in great setting....See MoreRebecca Hart
