Bay window table dimensions
Comments (8)Wolfgang, the size of your table is too small. The table top needs to overhang the seating. Here is a picture of how people sit at a table when eating. There is usually only 6 to 8 inches between the person and the table. More than that causes a person to have to lean in uncomfortably. HERE is a PDF of average dimensions for furniture. While you don't have to adhere to them, varying too much can lead to awkwardness. Assuming 4-inch thick seating, you should have 11 inches between the foam and the top of the table. That is 33 inches to the top of the table—18+4+11. For reference, most kitchen counter tops are 36 inches tall. You can use 2-inch foam if you choose a higher DENSITY/QUALITY foam. Buying chairs later is when you might have a problem. Most dining chairs are 18 inches to the top of the padding with a few to 19 inches. Be sure to take a tape measure with you when you shop. This would be 14 to 15 inches between the seat and the top of the table....See MoreHelp arranging living room with diagonal wall, bay window, & fireplace
Comments (3)Here is how I would arrange it. Not having dimension, this is obviously not to scale, but gives you general idea. I'd use round features when possible to eliminate the look of the angled wall. Example: here I used a round rug and chairs. I don't know how much space is in the bay window area or if you need to place a dining table there. But, if so, this is one option of how to fit a dining table in smaller space: scoot it up to the back of the sofa. I also do not have information on what furniture you have, but I would not use 2 sofas as the current owner is showing. I'd use one sofa and a couple of chairs, as show below. Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help further....See MoreI need advice on box bay window.
Comments (9)IMO it's not worth it just to get a window seat that likely is not deep enough for anyone to use. a 12" window seat is simply a deep ledge and not really a seat anyone can sit upon. The construction issue is how to address closing the box at the top and supporting the box at the bottom because this becomes a heavy element. I'm assuming you have no additional brick to create the support Though this square bay is floating, it's not very deep for a window seat....See MoreHelp with window treatments for Victorian bay windows and picture rail
Comments (9)First off you have beautiful home and congratulation on your new home. I'd suggest going to the floor if you're going to go with curtains on these window and if you're okay with going above the picture rail i'd suggest that. Going above the rail will just add height to your room. 1/4'' is going to be too narrow to do an inside mount. If you like the idea of having some of your trim show you can always mount on your trim, but just don't cover it all. Honeycomb and roller shades would be good pairing options with curtains. A roller shade will project out farther than a honeycomb shade.... just something to consider. If you're open to suggestions on an alternative option consider an Illusion shade. They have a modern look and give you versatility with light and privacy. The illusion shades are beautiful on their own or look nice with panels as well....See MoreMichael Design
