Need help to make screen porch and deck more inviting
Comments (23)First, you are so luck to have such a wonderful getaway vacation home! It is on a beautiful lot. I agree with missymoo as well, and also what Olychick said. Something about that table smack dab in the middle of the room seems to block entry into the screened porch. I love the idea of a sofa against the wall, something like what robo posted with some comfy cushions and arms, and a chair for reading with a footstool that could also double as an extra seat. Add a small cocktail table you can also use for a tray of snack food. The bar cart is also a great idea. Encourages people to gravitate to where the food and drinks are. You could also string up some lighting along the perimeter and it would look very inviting. Do you get a lot of sun on the deck? It looks shady so I would think a new round table with chairs for seating would be fine and then move your grill & the pub table out there. You can get some pretty nice chairs that swivel and rock. I have also seen some benches that double as storage for the cushions so that might be an option if there is room. That would keep cushion maintenance down for you when you aren't there....See MorePlease help make our Patio look warm and inviting
Comments (7)First, can I come live with you? I think an outdoor rug would do good to define the space for the table and chairs. What about a bench undercover and safe from rain... add a big stack of solid color beach towels for guests? Depending on your taste... bright, dark, pastel or white? I’d avoid patterns because it would call too much attention. I’ve always been a big believer in white towels... simply because you can bleach out stains and stay bright. Get the big towel ( sheets?) - the ones oversized and thick. Keep it simple. It’s a very classy area as it is. Don’t junk it up with “stuff” unless it has a purpose. Maybe a bench with a weatherproof cushion near the fire place/pizza oven? A set of 3 or so waterproof square tables for people to sit drinks on? Keep all as a set or break apart and move where needed....See MoreNeed ideas to make upstairs balcony/patio warm and inviting
Comments (10)What a great space! I would probably put two very comfortable outdoor chairs there, a little end table between them, and/or coffee table in front, and use it to have coffee or read or a chat. I would also use an outdoor area rug and add some plants. You could keep going and add all sorts of outdoor decor items, but I like outside spaces kind of simple - easier to clean, and store things when out of season. Editing to add....I would also have a dog bed for your cute friend. :)...See Morehow can I make this dining room more inviting?
Comments (91)Read through all the posts and not wild about the size of the rug you bought. I liked the first one suggested with the blues, look for something similar. Here is my possibly radical suggestion. That corner unit draws your eye away from everything. Consider taking the door off, use spackle and touch up paint to hide the hinge holes. Then either DIY or hire someone to come in and cut off that curved top. It would be awesome if that curved top was act nailed on and easier to remove. then touch up paint anything that needs it. If you must need a door, take it to see if you can get the panes removed and a whole piece of glass replaced. And lastly, when you decided on the rug and curtains, paint the inside of the corner unit walls one of the accent color. or the same as the chest. Leave the outside of it the current color. I think the changes to that built in corner unit could go a long way with changing the look in the room. And for sure a different light fixture!...See MoreBeth H. :
