Recommendations for exterior front step lighting

Any recommendations for new exterior front step lighting. My house was built in the 20s. The pediment is orginal and even though I do not love it it will stay. I think simpler lights might help down play the ornate door frame. Any suggestions that suit the style and era of my house would be so greatly appreciated.
Close up of lights I dislike and this week's snow which I also despise :(

Comments (2)Nice looking house, neat as can be. I've read something about AZEK which they use to make decks that look like wood but are not. Look into that for your steps. No maintenancee, as I unnderstand it. No termites either. Whatever you do with your steps, make wide treads and low risers. This is much easier for people to climb, and IMHO, it makes for a friendlier entry way. Comments (6)!. Your downspout needs to drain onto the driveway, not into the dirt next to the house. If budget permits, use asphalt to match the driveway where the old planter was. IN the meantime, use bark to cover the dirt. Two or three large pots with flowers would be decorative statements. 2. The house is contemporary, not modern farmhouse. If you want the black and white sparkle, paint the siding white. If you want a more natural look, have the siding cleaned and treated with a transparent finish recommended by experts for the type of wood siding you have (cedar? redwood?). The columns can be covered in new brick, new siding, or other easy changes. 3. If driving in and out of the garage is a problem, consider changing the step to the front porch to a much narrower step, say 12 inches or so, still running the length of the porch. The area opposite the garage could be added to the driveway as a place to back up. Comments (13)I did go to a local door and window store in my area that was highly rated on-line. They had very nice doors. I saw one in the showroom I liked but the salesman said it was $3k-4k. When I explained what I wanted, I was told the more glass you add, the more expensive it is. Their most inexpensive line with a small window at the top would probably cost $2k but that includes hardware and installation and they said they would completely remove the frame, touch up paint, etc. In Home Depot, as I stated, I saw a Jeld-Wen door I liked for about $1200 (hardware and installation was extra) but the salesperson said 70% of the Jeld-Wen doors they get in have issues. The Therma-Tru doors I saw in Home Depot were a much better quality than Jeld-Wen. The prices were variable depending on style, amount of glass added, etc. We have a contractor coming out next week to do a small project for us. I'll ask him what type of door he recommends and report back on what he says....See More
