Swamp milkweed is a BIG love in my garden. It does NOT spread by rhizomes and it is loved by more than monarchs. Being "swamp" milkweed means it likes moist conditions, but if you grow it in healthy soil with ample compost and generous mulch it needs no extra care. I have never given my extra watering until this summer during our severe drought, and then I just had to do it one time. I grew some in junky bed without much thought to soil or mulch and it didn't last, but it loves my standard garden loam, which was started with good compost and peat added to the loam/soil. PM me your address as I did collect seeds. I don't have many other seeds of my own, but asters are invaluable in the fall for providing nectar late in the season. Check into the native asters of your area and grow them from seed. They will be more beneficial than garden cultivars which are sometimes sterile.
