Hi,that's alright, i''m very sure they are the same.They were the stars of my garden this year. I had so much space to fill in a new area of my mountain side surrounding our new gazebo pad, and they worked great covered with fragrant white blossoms that shine in the moonlight, with flashes of colors from my potted bouginvillaes, and salvias, and other flowers, and their seeds, a gazzilions of them which i didn't bother gather since from one bush i had tons of self sown seedlings to transplant anywhere i wanted to, i just took branches of them last fall and beat them on the ground to spread their seeds all over my mountain side backyard. I am also a newbie (Dec) and are only thriving because of the generosity of the nicest poeple i've ever met at GW. I signed up for so many round robins that my head is spinning, but am waiting for holiday company to leave so I can make a huge mess and start packing all my seed packets for those swaps, which i'm told is the very best way to build up our seed stash inventory power. As i see it, there's really no way to trade tons until after at least one seed harvesting season, where we 'll finally get unlimited seed counts. i can only participate now because people are so kind to put up with my very few seed counts per packets, since my seeds are less common.Chris

How long does it take for moonflowers to bloom on average? I know Karyn you said not until fall, but does that mean we should count 120 days from germination, 90 days from germination? I wish there were more clear instructions on these things... I have never managed to get a moonflower to bloom, whether I have started them indoors or not. Also - my understanding is that when my moonflowers burst out of their seeds and show their first huge leaves, there is a fairly long period of time from when the first leaves show to when their "true" leaves come out. This is my experience, but is it normal or am I doing something wrong?

Just by throwing the seeds out? Are you descended from druids? Some gardeners seem to have the right touch. I decided on 12" spacing, or three per planter. In a prepared flower bed I would not have been concerned, but space can become a premium in those shallow planters.

Ken_Adrian, My goal is a TALL screen but healthy and long living. Admittedly, I'd like them to grow together up to 25 feet or so. We have a neighbor with the house elevated and essentially 3 stories tall. The last ~10 feet of roof don't mind seeing between the tree tops. But really want to block the rest. Based on the shape of a 40 x 10 tree with fairly consistent narrow pyramid shape, my spacing head on with effective 4 foot gaps seemed to work for this. The overlap covers ~60% of the height or nearly 25 feet. If I were to move the spacing out to, say 12 feet, it seems like not much (still get 6 foot gaps from head on and now closer to 8 foot diagonals) but it's closer to 40% overlap so only ~15 feet. Not ideal until you get closer to 60 feet. The diagonals at 8 feet would also be worse. I suppose I should consider my own enjoyment of these trees and not just the long, long term. Even getting to 40 feet probably won't happen for another... 25+ years. But if it will be sad if beyond this they keep growing and are unhealthy and die off. I certainly don't anticipate them being pruned beyond training to be narrow early on. Heck, while I'm certain they will get to 40 feet. Do they manage to really slow down and not get 50-60 feet? And hell, I could be moved on or dead at that point. And then... does a few extra feet really make a difference for the health of the trees?
