Is your budget for two pillows or a new rug or something else?

Can you post a picture of your space?

Our budget is for throw pillows, throw blankets and any other reasonably priced decor accents. All together would like to keep it under $125.00.

The photos are of our drapes and area rug currently in our living room.

Thinking around $20 max per pillow or pillow cover. We tend to lean towards the rich saturated colors such as deep reds or dark blues. Would love to have a medieval or early renaissance vibe. Or maybe mediterranean, turkish, moroccan would be nice too. Really like the textiles from the 14th to the 17th centuries, especially some of the gorgeous tapestries.

Flo Mangan and Lynartist, thank you both for the great suggestions and kind words. Will try to post a photo or two of the space. Please keep in mind, everything so far is the culmination of items purchase or given to us over the years. Trying to tie it together.

I agree the budget is tight. I had hoped by using pillow covers to go over existing pillows I could save money. I really like the deep teal; I hadn't even thought of using that color. The print from Waverly, Santa Maria Gem, is perfect! I have seen this fabric at JoAnns. I think it may be time to break out the sewing machine. :)

To get a different, warmer look, remove all the pillows and throws to the dining room table, then put just the red ones back. Buy two new red throws. If you need nice big dog-proof throws, buy four instead of two.

If you find you want more light from the windows, look at getting much longer curtain rods that would draw the print fabric completely off the window during the daytime. Sometimes you can extend the curtain rods you already have.

I like that tribal pillow...I like that it has the coral and teal in. I really like the coral color accented with your neutral color. It ties in with the salt rock and the orange in your lamp shade.

Can you take all the curtains down for new daytime photos?

lynartish, thanks for taking the time to "photoshop" in the pillows. As for the lighting in the room, that is the result of poor quality photo taking from my phone. I turned the lights on to help show of each one.

Just a little bit of info: The window treatments are "set up" to keep "gawkers" from looking into our home. Unfortunately, our street has become extremely busy over the years, and we get a lot of people going by the front and there really isn't much distance between the front of the house and them. When we have company, we typically do pull back the sheers along with drapes.

Apple pie order, I like the idea of repositioning/extending the drapery rods.

If any of you ladies have photos of your living room, I'd love to see them. Maybe I could steal a tip or two from you.

Lynartist, thank you posting the photos. I really like tapestry like pillows on the armless chairs. It appears this room is intended more for formal entertaining and not everyday life.

Given your photos I can see why you made the suggestions you did.

It must be nice to have such a large window with tall shrubs/plants to screen the view from the street/sidewalk.

I wonder if another, softer color rather than red might not work better, perhaps a softer green or blue, or a combination of several colors where the overall look is not too bright.

lyn, your room with the red furniture is fabulous, and I doubt that many other people could pull this off nearly as well. You've put this room together so beautifully; it must be the result of your artistic talent.
