Something that helps me a lot with dark areas under my eyes (and sunken in eyes) is white mulberries (the actual berries—not the leaves, although I'm not sure whether or not the leaves help there, too). I have a lot of other issues that eating white mulberries alleviate, too (chronic constipation, depression, involuntary movements, auras, etc.; they strengthen my immune system, and I only get sick maybe once or twice a year, now, instead of every other month, and when I do get sick, it doesn't last as long; I should note that although it alleviates constipation, it doesn't give me anything like diarrhea if I eat too many; the berries seem to have an antimicrobial effect, and they make my lungs feel good right after I eat them when I breathe in). If I stop eating them, the issues come back, though, but it's pretty miraculous how they make them go away. I only need to eat a few berries a day. I think a few in the morning and a few at night works best (you don't need to eat loads of them). I didn't need to eat hardly any at all when I first started taking them, though (1-3 berries a day; I don't need many more than that now, but I usually eat at least 4 twice a day, although usually more than that: they do taste pretty good). Be consistent with when you take them. They sell them at The Grocery Outlet here locally (but nuts.com also sells them). When I first started taking them, if I ate too many (then too many wasn't very many), it would make me more depressed instead of less depressed (but I don't notice that happening so much anymore if I eat lots of them). So, dosage may matter. Does he have any other issues? Does he have light sensitivity (to indoor light), by chance? I do (especially to fluorescent light), and I think it's related, for me. Using computers a lot, I think, can make dark areas under the eyes worse. If you take vitamin D3 (at least 400iu a day), that should lessen the light sensitivity considerably.

Hi Helen I think at the moment I would leave things as they are. When you say that the 'Dark Eyes' isn't thriving you may be leaching the goodness out of the soil when you are watering as the baskets need more water than pots in most other situations. I would suggest that you give the baskets a good general fertilizer at half strength 20:20:20 for a while, then change to a high potash feed (something like a tomato feed) when the flowers start to show. The growth will look a bit flimsy as this is the nature of these types of plants they are trailers and make a lot of length on the growth before flowering. It is a good idea to make sure that the baskets are able to turn (some sort of a swivel like those on a dog leash is useful) or turn them every couple of days by hand so that all sides receive the same amount of light and one side doesn't become 'drawn'. Hopefully you will have a good show this year... you will have to take a photograph and lets us all see the fruits of your labour. Hope this helps. Tight....

Btydrvn, bamboo is not a part of any habitat in the northeast along the Connecticut river. The risk of it spreading far and wide in the region is low, due to it rarely producing seed and the climate, but it does have potential to expand from its source and displace other plants on the property, assuming we're talking about Phyllostachys aurea. Some plants make a lot of nuts, seeds, fruits, shoots, leaves, or nectar as a direct food source for animals. Often insects eat a plant, then other species like birds eat the insects, creating a food web. Relatively few insects and animals eat the bamboo directly, it doesnt produce fruit, mast or nectar, and its contribution to the food web is relatively low compared to native species and even some non-native species. It also changes the soil and leaf litter dynamics where it is growing. Pretty much everything it does as a plant like erosion control, carbon sequestration, cover for wildlife, and providing building materials, other plants can also do while providing more food to other organisms. Hi Stephanie, I like your instincts for Jack Pine or something similar in the north room. I recently used SW Evergreen in a laundry closet. Now, after looking at your post, I am thinking it would be great in my north living room. I noticed that lamp light makes an interesting effect on my dark green that I never noticed in rooms with white walls. It creates an island of bright color. I am curious as to how that looks in a large dark room. I see pictures in this post. It looks dramatic and exciting. But is it so in reality? I think you can be more adventurous because there is a natural border defining your living room from y dining room. But what will you do on the wall going up that beautiful staircase?
