purpose of sink grids..
Comments (37)I've gone back and forth about grids. I ordered them for our 2 ss sinks--main and prep. They were expensive. I loved the look of grids but I found I didn't like them. I took them out. I used the small one as an auxiliary dish drainer. I found the big one (for our 30 x 17 sink) was hard to store. It had to go in the cabinet under the sink on a diagonal making the storage space useless for anything else. fast forward a year....I decided to try the grids again. I still didn't like the grid in the prep sink but I ended keeping one in the main sink for the last 1 1/2 years. I like it more than I don't like it. The main problem is that it's too large to fit in the dw and has to be scrubbed down fairly often to keep black gunk from getting into all the joints. And as it ages, it's harder to get it clean--inevitable build up in little nicks and scratches and I assume the wearing away of a clear coating in the factory finish (?) It's also a bit unweildy when I take it out of the sink. If I had it to do over again, I would skip a prep sink grid and would try to find 2 small grids for the main sink instead of 1 large one....See MoreSink grid question
Comments (6)I have not had significant sliding. My sink (Linea Aqua Vienna) bowl size is 28" x 16". I bought a Kohler grid that is 25" x 12-3/4". My grid's about an inch high. It's working out fine for me. I even wish the grid was a little bit shorter in length so it would fit in my dishwasher. Looks like a beautiful sink you have! I see it's got a rear drain - When you get a grid for your sink, make sure the drain openings line up....See MoreDishwasher safe sink protector?
Comments (6)I found it at Target and Sears.com. On sears.com just type in "kitchen aid sink" in the search box and it will show up. I ordered the white sink rack on sears and the package came yesterday but it had the mat not the rack in there so I will need to take it back. The mat is nice thought so if they don't have the rack I will just keep this. I don't even see the mat on the site so can't figure out why I got this. I also saw the mat and rack at Target but they were out of the size I wanted. I love that this can be put in the DW...See MoreWhere can I buy a sink grid for my Benchmark SS sink?
Comments (5)sheila, I have to admit-the sink is beautiful! It's actually an Artisan 16 gauge sink, and seems really thick. (not much to compare to since I had a cheapy HD top mount before.) Searching Artisan on GW, it seems they do make a very high quality sink. Benchmark did a great job installing. We did have a big boo boo when one of my slabs broke in the driveway on a Thursday. The poor installer had to feel my wrath, since I was so over living without plumbing any longer and certainly not for another weekend, and the piece that broke made it impossible for my cooktop, dishwasher, or sink to be installed. I had an electrician and plumber scheduled for the next day. Benchmark stepped up to the plate and fabricated a new slab for me that night even tho it was already around 3pm. According to the supervisor they halted other production and worked late to make it happen as well as to squeeze me into the install schedule the next morning. I was so happy to get it installed very first thing the next morning! Mistakes and accidents happen, and it's how a business deals with them and makes them right that's important and Benchmark did the right thing by me. I can't complain. And an FYI to those Benchmark customers looking for a sink grid-Benchmark keeps a few on hand and can order them I believe (might be a good idea to ask for one when ordering the granite to make sure it's in stock) and they are very very reasonably priced. I got a D-shaped sink, and the grid was $30 with Benchmark. This was the same make/model/mfr grid I saw online for $80, made by the sink's manufacturer....See MoreHolli Cavin
