Amazing beautiful blooms! I come by the cacti&succulent forum to check out the monthly blooms discussion because I never knew that cacti that small can produce such beautiful flowers. It inspires me everytime and I save some images just so I can find a matching cacti in the plant shops I like to visit

kvetch, in case you're not aware, if it's in the sun, make sure to let it gradually get used to the outdoor sun over the period of about a week.

First bloom on a Fouq. diguetii I've had many year. While weeding my Bursera plants I broke this off, Ugh! A Echinocereus fendleri flower more purple than the picture suggests.

Uh oh thank you for the reminder Jeff! I grow other plants so it's strange I forgot to apply that to the cactus as well. I put it outside on the northside of the yard so it should be okay but probably got shaken up a bit

Small Aztekium valdezii. If you want slow try Aztekium. The only one of my few grafted plants that flowers regularly. This species was discovered only recently - my plant came from a Czech nursery - I fear its origins may not be totally kosher.

SF is that a common problem in the hobby in Europe? What about other parts of the world?

It could be Spring cactus (or Easter cactus). Post when blooms open. There are many for sale here around Easter, and all have so many buds. I think they could be on steroids, lol.

laticaudia - not by any means specifically European. About 45 years ago the Mexican authorities banned the export of plants and seeds of indigenous species. Before then plant dealing companies from all over were digging them up like there was no tomorrow. So a species that was discovered 15 or so years ago - how did a nursery anywhere get them?? Go figure.

@Socks: Cool! Looks like yours is a yellow bloomer? Don't seem to find that color around here.

They are pretty, and, since they don't set seed, the flowers last longer than the regular single ones.

That's a bonus! Normally , I know, the flowers are very short-lived.

Here in Ontario Lost Horizons nursery in Acton has them. Yours are gorgeous, sld, and so many! I am still waiting for the reappearance of mine (third year). I hope they hurry up.

You want slow? My Aztekium hintonii - been in the same pot since I bought her in 2011. I will repot her soon, and also the little Epithelantha micromeris that has hitched a ride.

SpanishFly, that's really beautiful. I love Aztekiums. Looks like it's on its own roots, too. I only have one, a ritteri that's on a very short graft. The grafted part has actually turned brown, but the plant looks fine. Repotted it this spring and the roots look good. I've been eyeing hintonii and valdezii on Ebay, but they're pricey and I'd probably have to order from Europe. Maybe some day I'll bite the bullet :-)

And you have cactus seedling hitch hikers in your pots. I'm so jealous!

Thanks for the kind comment stupidlazydog - yes it is on its own root. I also have a grafted A. ritteri that has never flowered.

Here's mine flowering last summer

If you look very closely, you can see a brown pointy part at about 6:00 in the photo. That's the understock. It's so short it barely comes above the potting mix and you can hardly see it at all.

That is a beauty.

This white TC is a little messed up because of my kitten.

I took this photo a couple days ago, all excited that I finally had Easter Cacti blooms. A couple hours later, I heard a crash, and saw that my kitten had knocked it over and ate the blooms. I still love her, Iol.

I recently got a cotyledon orbiculata pig's ear, love the shape. (I keep any could be toxic plants high up away from the kitten).

I got to enjoy this spectacular cacti bloom, it's now with wonderful Mike.

Yesterday had my first Magnolia bloom. This is 'Jane.'

Not mine, but too pretty not to share, I stumbled upon this while out, 'Alexandrina' Magnolia. I LOVE finding mature magnolias in bloom :)
