Need help picking white paint for small bathroom (details follow)
Comments (10)I also chose to do white paint (with white tile) in a new bathroom remodel. The bathroom is average sized, but has no windows. I think it's a personal preference as to what color (or lack of color) looks best. And it all depends on what "feeling" you want from the room. I think Sweeby is right that a deep paint color would be dramatic (and possibly cozy and warm, depending on the color) and have a very pleasant feeling. I wanted an open, crisp, clean feel and had no desire for cozy or warm. Though I'm not done with the remodel, so far I'm very pleased with the color. I'm not certain that I can give you specific colors to try, but I can tell you how I selected mine. I took every single white paint chip home from the store and sat down with the paint chips and my tile. I then sorted through the "definitely nots" (whites that had too much yellow, pink, blue, green, etc) and narrowed down to a few that I really liked. I then really held them up to the tile I'm using to see how the colors played off of each other. My concern was that I did not want the tile or the paint to look "dirty" due to an unflattering contrast. I ended up selecting Ralph Lauren "Grand" because I felt it best complimented the color of the tile. Unfortunately I don't think the color I selected fits your "clear but creamy". But I do highly recommend grabbing as many paint chips as you can and holding them against the materials you have selected until you find one that compliments the room....See MoreNeed help choosing tile for half bathroom floor
Comments (6)Would it be bad to use something like this, even though it is an older style? I am a huge sucker for black and white anything. I don't want to spend a lot of money (not that this is a lot of money at $5.75/square foot at home depot) and then still have the room look like it has the original tile, in case we sell. I like this too, for the same reasons...this is more expensive though, at $15.39/SF (for sale here: http://www.fastfloors.com/catalog/productline.asp?wid=FG8N2D2&productlineid=17937&productid=126165: I also like this, but I'm suspicious of the price ($5.48 for 11.25x11.25). Is the quality bad? this is at home depot. Would marble be better? Or granite? I have no idea what to do....See MorePitiful woman needs help picking bathroom counters, trim, paint, etc.!
Comments (11)are you replacing the tub tile at all? or just the scroll piece? another idea is to take the same quartz countertop and have the top portion of your tub surround done in the same. that way both vanities and top of tub all match. doing a solid color would work better here since you'll want to coordinate w/the tile floor. If you did that, take the tile off the wall above the tub and you could do something like this If keeping that tile on the top of tub, then it might be an issue. you may just want to keep the scroll piece under the window. that's up to you. all depends how far you want to go. if you remove the scroll, you could do a little wood shelf across, below the window, for plants or orchids. as for the mirrors w/the lights in them, they're all over. just google 'vanity mirrors w/lights', or vanity mirrors w/medicine cab" . they are a bit pricey though. 600 and up for the very nice ones. Robern medicine cabinets are a well known name. if you want a taller medicine cab on the side, you will have to have the recessed portion of the wall made taller. as for the tiling portion, yes, just the front wall,,,you would paint on the side portion. I really like this look for your room. you don't have to do MOP tile, it was just a suggestion. there are tons of beautiful tiles you could use. If you did more of an ivory or subtle countertop that plays well w/your tile floor, then you could have more options to play w/some tile. The sconces pictured here are also nice, but there are many other types you could use as well. Don't want to bother w/sconces? then ditch your mirror and buy a backlit, or complete edge lit mirror like this one. you could still do your tiling like shown here. These are also very flattering. this countertop is limestone, below, and is more of a neutral, greige color. i would keep your ceiling dark, like you have it,,maybe do the walls a lighter shade...all depends what you pick for the vanity and tile. Having the mirror cut down isn't expensive. hopefully they can get it off the wall w/o breaking it. doing the tile around the mirror defines that area and gives it so much more appeal....See MoreStuck between two gray paints for bathroom- HELP pick one PLEASE
Comments (14)Yes it comes from the south...lots of light and really high ceilings. I think maybe the brown on the walls now throws off the colors but if you look at the picture of where the shelves are going to be , both those colors are also on there. thanks so much. smoke embers on top and cumulus cloud on the bottom....See Moretatts
