Comments (13)and do understand.. that all the spray will do ... is stop the spread ... it will NOT make what is there disappear ... the only thing that will do that ... is the leaves falling off in fall ... insure that your remove all the leaves from the property in fall ... did you contact the seller and ask them about it all??? ... and dont take the hard sell that you need to buy a remedy from them ... do use google [see link] and read a bunch of sites on using the spray ... just to get a good hold on it all ... unlike chems.. it will be hard to keep it in suspension .. meaning you will have to shake the sprayer often ... learn how to use your sprayer works by filling it with plain water .. and fooling around with it .... droplets of water are made by adjusting not only tank pressure .. but also the thingee at the end of the wand .... large drops of spray .. tend to work better and fall to the ground... this is not french perfume.. and atomizing it is not really the goal ... and you will have to cover .. completely .. both sides of every leaf .... my info is not enough.. read up on it... and good luck ken Here is a link that might be useful: link...See MoreWhy didn't my dogwood blossom this year?
Comments (7)I think there is nothing wrong with the tree, it's just doing what they seem to do. I have 7 dogwoods, 5 Cornus florida and 2 Cornus kousa, and they always seem to bloom heavily every other year, with few or no blooms on the alternate year (which, for me, is this year as well). My kousas in particular, if they have a heavy crop of berries as they did last year, have nothing the next year -- I can't find a single flower bud on either of those trees this year. I'd be interested to see what the responses of other posters are, but personally, I think that dogwoods are just "alternate bearing", to borrow a phrase from the pomology folks. Comments (4)I was advised that dogwoods are "understory" trees and not meant to be planted in full, direct sun. That being said, we lost a dogwood that we had planted in a part shade location. It's leaves exhibited similar symptoms as you described and we also felt that it had adequate, but not too much water. I saw an article and picture in Garden Gate magazine describing "bacterial leaf scorch" that seemed to fit what was going on with our tree. Every spring it would leaf out fine, but one or two branches would be dead. Then at some point in the summer, the leaf edges would begin to brown and the leaves would never turn colors in the fall, just brown and eventually fall. Comments (2)The "small, round things on the ends of my dogwood tree" are more than likely next Spring's blooms, unless they're bright red and glossy, in which case would make them seeds. Quite tasty...if you're a bird:) As far as when to take cuttings, it's a bit iffy unless you're using mist. I have got a cherokee chief to root from cutting without mist, but I think luck had a lot to do with it, cause I just dipped it in hormone and stuck it in a pot in the shade and forgot about it.
