WWYD with these recessed lights?
Comments (7)I'm very tired so this may not make sense. As you know, your layout is similar to mine. I started by centering a can over the cleanup sink. Then we placed two cans equidistant from that on the perimeter appropriate for the 6" can light spread. Cans are placed on equidistant on either side of the range hood also. You don't need a can in front of the range hood. The result is two cans close together in the corner to the left of the cleanup sink. Somehow I didn't see this as a very big issue on paper, although I don't like how it turned out IRL. I'm not sure there was much I could have done about it though. My motto is always that more light is better than less light. I'm a light junkie. Maybe this photo will help. Light plan made by lighting specialist taking into account our already-overloaded, can-filled LR. Note that I do NOT have the sink can switched separately. I didn't want to place yet one more switch in an already difficult location, and I wouldn't be able to do any work at the cleanup sink with just one can on anyway. I stressed about this decision, but it's been great the way it is. Edited to add this photo of the range wall for a look at the cans from a different angle. Comments (18)illini - thanks, I am very excited about the dish hutch. It's directly across from the DW and I think it will work out great for that, setting the table, and it should keep everyone out of my cooking zone, etc.. deedles - I know I know, a crazy 'problem' to ponder! I am feeling like I have way too much space and will have empty drawers. But surely once we get in there they will fill up. I will have much more space than I have ever had. My one 4 drawer is on the island so not next to any other drawer stack and yes I think it might bug me if they were right next to each other. romy-thanks. I do like the look of it too. But I keep thinking what about the function. I will check kksmama's drawers (lol) - thanks for the tip. I think I have forgotten about other things I had stashed away in the basement because it didn't fit, cookie cutters, less used baking items and holiday stuff. That will all fit now. :) sherri-I think I might look at aftermarket dividers, that's a great idea. Foils, wraps and baggies I was planning for the 4 drawer stack - but they could go in my other 33" by the fridge too. So if I keep 36/12, it sounds like most of you would keep it a door (like mpagmom) and not a pull out? I'm not even sure they have any new fangled thing on a 12" pull out. They aren't cutting edge on drawer inserts, etc.....See MoreRandom people are using our basketball hoop...WWYD?
Comments (91)I would like to know if you ever were able to keep them off the goal. In my neighborhood the neighborhood kids broke our backboard. I am assuming using a some kind of gun or rocks. The police stated without us knowing or rather have proof who has done this, there is nothing that can be done. I am furious. Now, my son, who is 10 and plays on three different teams, is not able to practice. He loves the game. I will be purchasing a new goal, installing cameras, post private property, and write Not permitted to be used unless you are given written permission from the owner of the basketball goal across the backboard. Bottom line, if you are not given permission, you should not be on anyone's property. For some reason, these kids, feel they can do what they want, when they want. It is quite aggravating and very wrong, especially when you spoke to the parents in the neighborhood....See MoreFrom quirky to annoying.....another WWYD
Comments (47)Why is it so important for her to know every. single. detail? There might be many reasons (distraction for her, a feeling of control, a feeling of connection, some kind of pathological nosiness...) but the reasons are irrelevant to how you feel. How about," Oh my. You seem to always want so many details. It is overwhelming! Then change the subject? Could that work? In other words, put the onus on me, not her. Yes, I think this could work and would be your best bet. You don't even need to say "you seem to always want". Simply saying "So many details!" in a flustered manner could be enough. I think expressing that you find it overwhelming is important....See MoreRelated Professionals
