Thoughts on Right Vs Left Hand Bathtub
Comments (4)One apartment I used to live in did have the tub facing the other way, although the room was arranged toilet/sink/tub rather than the more common sink/toilet/tub. Now that I think of it, it was kind of convenient to be able to reach the tub/shower controls without leaning around the sink (or toilet as it may be). For some reason, I slightly prefer right drain in general though......See Moretiling shower floor basin with a right hand drain
Comments (3)Yes, it can. Pitch the whole floor so it's flat level front to back, but pitching down to the right, until you get about a foot away from the drain, and then pitch the rest normally (from all sides) at that point. In the following pic, you'll notice the cuts at the bottom of the wall slope down until about 4-5 tiles from the end at the left side, at which point the edge levels out. That's where the "cone" shaped pitch begins from ALL sides:...See MoreRight-handed question
Comments (11)My layout order is prep w/ garbage underneath it - sink/24" counter w/ DW under it - then the fridge. Although It's logical to prep to the left of my sink, I find myself crammed onto the 24" counter next to the fridge. Makes me kinda crazy. Also makes me want to move my fridge 5 steps to the right into the mud room and put more counter space where the fridge is. Ironically, I have more counterspace than some of these fancy-pants, show kitchens. Tons. But I have to make myself move from the 24" countertop at least over to the prep area. I'm putting a trash pull-out on the other side of the kitchen, to the right of my stove. I can prep there comfortably, so if I actually remember to move my lazy butt from my 24" space, it will feel logical to me. So I guess I prep to the right of my sink. Uncomfortably. Oh - I've had this since 2008, but in my pre-house-fire kitchen, it was pretty much the same....See More2 hand towel rings or double hook?
Comments (5)I don't know where they should go but I like it that you are fixing the walls to to handle the fixtures after the walls go up. I have never had a towel ring but they look like they would be under a lot of stress & torque as one tries to pull the towel off, unless the ring swings left and right to accommodate the side pull. I like hooks and bars. If you put a bar by the tub I would put one that was actually a grab bar for safety. They have many nice looking ones. I have seen chrome plated ones in several designs. As I was as my DS's house taking a shower and drying off while standing in the beautiful claw foot tub/shower, I needed some help with balance and I put my hand on some mounted shelving, not thinking. As I eventually wobbled I put too much weight on the shelve and down it came, braking the nice decorations that DIL had up. So, in my remodel I will have only grab bar worthy fixtures near the tub for safety :)...See More- 8 years ago
