Can stuccoed foam window trim be removed?

Hi all!

My husband and I just bought this very gray house and are working on giving it some flavor. It's a 1911 bungalow that got a boring 2nd floor addition in the 70s and then was remodeled (flipped) before we bought it. The remodelers thought they would try adding some character by adding foam window trim, that was then stuccoed over, but we think this trim looks really cheesy and would love to replace it with the simple wood window trim that we see on every nice stucco house in the area.

So, is it possible at this point to do this? I'm sure the stucco around the trim would be destroyed and it might be difficult to patch, but even if you could do that, how would wood trim be attached? Does it need to be installed before the window is installed? If that's the case, we would probably give up on this idea!
