Backsplash? No backsplash? What kind of backsplash?
Comments (25)didn't have time to read all the answers. I have no backsplash and have never regretted it...been over 6 yrs. It is painted with BM matte...which has ceramic in it. It is as beautiful now as it was when first painted. I love the fact that I can showcase other things ...art etc in my kitchen and no competition. Also if I ever want to change it is as quick as a paint brush...expense is minimal..paint only ! All in all I think it is serene as you point out . Here is one pick. Since I have a lot of high heat cooking in my kitchen..built in deep fat fryer as well as gas cook top I can definitely speak to the longevity of paint only. c ( more at this album )...See MoreNeed help for backsplash around bay window and sink
Comments (8)Thanks for the comments. nutbunch - our countertops are 3 cm thick. I haven't thought of laminate. Will look into that. petra_granite - in retrospect I would have loved to use the contertop granite on the bay window area. We even had it measured at the time, but it would have raised the base of the bay window too high making it impossible to turn the handle of the window to open it. remodelfla - I like the idea of glass inserts with ceramic tile. But it is still hard for me to visualize the front edge of the bay window as it turns down to the wall behind the sink. The contrasting color I'd like to bring out from the granite is the deep red or brown. bill_vincent - very nice picture. Hadn't thought of that contrast idea. My window is lower down that the one pictured - mine is about 5 inches up from the countertop. Do you think if I framed the bottom window with wood trim molding that it would get too wet from water at the sink? I know I could put lots of coats of paint, but is that enough protection? Is there another material to use to frame a window when there is a water source nearby? Thank you....See MoreBacksplash help for White Transitional Kitchen
Comments (41)one of my favorites with white counters is a light grey glass 3x12 tile. The one in the pictures is from Surface Art, it's called Translucent Urban Glass color: light mist. Very clean looking but still pretty to look at. I added a couple pictures from some jobs our store has done with it. First picture is a new construction home, second photo is a remodel. I don't have finished pictures of the remodel yet but it has a Carrara look quartz slab. The glass tile really pulls the grays from the counter nicely. I think it would look amazing with white cabinets too. *grout color is Custom brand Prism Color Consistent Grout #545 Bleached Wood...See Morekitchen backsplash around window
