How do I make water puddles look good? (PICS)
Comments (18)I was thinking of removing the pavers as well, they either need to be laid correctly or gone. I almost tripped on one of them yesterday. And boy, I thought I had seen what the water was like until yesterday. It was like a monsoon in the yard! That area off to the side of the pavers that looks like it runs off into the woods was about 2ft wide. It was quite a mess and a larger problem than I thought. I am still going to try the pot filled with stones idea and have seen a few that might work. On another note, I found out that our building will be getting a new roof but could get no confirmation on whether they were adding downspouts, I can hope can't I?...See MoreI need help with my back yard/garden puddles of water and mud
Comments (10)Those actually look like snap-togther decking tiles (seen here). These are not intended to be set on grade (or bare soil) but rather as a permeable covering for an older deck or patio surface. LIke any wood product they will rot, collect moisture and discolor when in direct contact with the ground. I'd agree with Yard about removing them and then using a more durable surface - it could be concrete as suggested but could just as well be gravel or manufactured pavers, properly set on a prepared level surface....See MoreFront Porch Water Puddle Problem; French Drain Location?
Comments (3)I can see exactly why it happens right from your pictures. You probably do not need a french drain, you do need an extension on your drain pipe. Its draining right on the cement. It should be way past that cement, so that water drains into the ground. Hopefully, the staining I see, is not permanent, because of lack of proper drainage extension. Its a very easy fix, and certainly a very cheap one. Go buy a piece of downspout material, the size of your downspout and hook them together. Alternative, would be a piece of plastic drain hose, and if you go that direction, also buy the piece that has the fitting to fit right on the existing downspout, so you dont get overflow water out of the back side of it. If you have any other downspouts, without an extension on, do those too. All that water puddling around your foundation is not a good thing. Unfortunately, you will have to walk over the one you have by your doorway, so you may want to change that to the other side of the doorway, so the extension will be in the flower bed, rather than right in the middle of your sidewalk. Its not a hard thing nor an expensive thing to do, and is well worth moving it. And if you dont have a downspout already on the other side of your garage door I would also add one there. It was very poor planning, on whoever installed those downspouts, to put one that has a sidewalk in front of it....See Morenormal to have area where puddles collect on paver patio
Comments (2)You don't need much slope....just 1 inch per 8 feet of run. That is barely noticeable when looking at it directly :-) So it is quite possible to get some temporary puddling after a heavy rain. But it should dissipate pretty rapidly. Especially if the joints are water permeable....See Morealex
