Hoya Kerrii my first blooms
Comments (28)Pug, I wonder if your kerrii could be one of the other clones - "hairy kerrii" or the veined clone. Can you give us a closeup of a leaf? I suppose that might make a difference in the color of the sap. I have all three, but hairy kerrii and veined kerrii haven't bloomed for me yet. I think they both will this year because they've both set peduncles. If they do, I can compare flowers... I was whacking away at my kerrii a couple days ago - it's gotten so large and out of control, and I'm selling Hoyas this year (mostly to my cactus club...) to try to supplement our "budget deficit"... Anyway, I found one vine that had three opening peduncles on it, so left that one on for now. They're open now and no signs of any nectar at all yet. I'll have to pay attention and see how long it takes before they produce the nectar. It's not something I ever paid attention to before... Denise in Omaha...See Moremy first Hoya bloom ever
Comments (16)Thanks everyone, I am glad to share my first experience with these wonderful plants. Denise, I always get confused with the two terms. I have heard mine called a carnosa compacta so I am never sure what to call it. I have a Hindu Rope, is that the 'curly leaf' one you mentioned ? Maybe I will start naming them, I think that is Moonwolf's territory. I do have a large 'Chinese Evergreen' shrub in the living room that I call 'Charlie". Thanks all Poseidon...See MoreFirst ever hoya bloom
Comments (14)Do you only have the one? I got addicted when I received one for my 18th birthday from my Great Aunt. It is my compacta. I have since acquired several. Don't have a favorite yet, as most of them have not bloomed. Been dipping into adeniums and growing my own veggies for quite a few years now, so my hoya collection was put on the back burner and I have just gotten back into it. I cannot wait until my meliflua throws out peduncles, it has my favorite blooms. Hubby can't wait until the DS-70 throws out and blooms, he LOVES butterscotch!...See MoreHoya cinnamomifolia
Comments (3)Gorgeous! Thanks! :) I've always wanted one, and probably paid a little too much for it... I've just read nightmare threads about cinnamomifolia Hoyas that have turned out to be something else, unknown to most until they see the blooms. I need to add fungii to my wish list. Although, I'm running out of room! Lol...See More- 6 years ago
